Ultimate MBE: Sweet Sixteen!

I'm really sorry about delaying this. I sent some queries to Jeff but he got busy and never got back to me. I'll just leave the entries for "Real Life Counterpart" that I can't think of, and then maybe someone can fill them in for me. Here are the second round results:

Spoiler d. LB
James Irish d. FATSEXY
Housefly d. Promo
Andrew Gilkison d. Freakshow
Maggot d. Aussie B
Webweaver d. Jack Gilkison
Professor Tremendous d. Meatbag
Mango d. El Tremendo
Freakfish d. dumi
Duchess d. IrishRed
BobbyR d. Justin Evitable
Paco the Wetback d. Mr. Cable Access Television
Hida Yakamo d. The Great yamada
Mr. Amazing d. Docawesome
PILE d. Sweet Jesus Funk
The Canadian Loonie d. WhiteNoise

And now, the matchups!

High Stakes Bracket

Spoiler (1) vs. James Irish (4)

Spoiler's Real Life Counterpart: Undertaker - Both characters have a mythic aura about them, even with the differences in what kind of mythic is it. They're both big-man workers who don't always work like big men. Both are also multiple time World Champions in their feds and are looked on as first-ballot HOFers.

James's Real Life Counterpart: Mick Foley - It hasn't changed from his U-A1E description, folks :p For the benefit of those who've forgotten: "The clown prince of A1E is very reminiscent of Mick Foley and his Corporate Mankind hijinx. Foley's first World Title win was long overdue, and so's James'."

Housefly (2) vs. Andrew Gilkison (4)

Ha, this match has happened about a million times in A1E.

Fly's Real Life Counterpart: Chris Benoit - Nope, hasn't changed from his U-A1E description either. "They're both smallish, great technical wrestlers. As faces, they make great underdogs, and no matter what affiliation, they're credible Champions."

Andy's Real Life Counterpart: Lance Storm - Another repeat. Srsly. "To invert Andy's A1 sig a bit... Not a great gimmick, but one hell of a worker."

Wednesday Night Warriors Bracket

Maggot (1) vs. Webweaver (4)

Maggot's Real Life Counterpart: The Sandman - Both are hardcore icons, pain sponges and alcoholics. Both are also iconic World Champions for their respective feds.

Webweaver's Real Life Counterpart: Raven - Though their ring styles are dissimilar, both men are masters of manipulation. They're both grungy in nature as well.

Professor Tremendous (2) vs. Mango (3)

ProfT's Real Life Counterpart:

Mango's Real Life Counterpart:

Lord of the Boards Bracket

Freakfish (1) vs. Duchess (5)

FF's Real Life Counterpart: Ric Flair - They both are masters of the promo and love to live the high life. FF is a more complex worker, and Flair won more World Championships, but they're more similar than not.

Duchess' Real Life Counterpart:

BobbyR (2) vs. Paco the Wetback (3)

BobbyR's Real Life Counterpart: Diamond Dallas Page - Both of them came on later in life, they're both from New Jersey and they both have mastered the Diamond Cutter.

Paco's Real Life Counterpart:

Total Elimination Bracket

Hida Yakamo (1) vs. Mr. Amazing! (4)

Hida's Real Life Counterpart:

Mr. A!'s Real Life Counterpart: Curt Hennig/Mr. Perfect - Both men are considered among the best in their circles to have never won a major World Championship. They're both technical marvels, and both their gimmicks are predicated upon them being THAT much better than the rest of the competition.

PILE (2) vs. The Canadian Loonie (3)

PILE's Real Life Counterpart: Brock Lesnar - Both were great physical specimens with terrific workrates. Both men also had a high peak that came fast with a rapid disappearance afterwards. PILE has Lesnar on the stick, but other than that, it's an almost perfect match.

Loonie's Real Life Counterpart:

Ultimate MBE Second Round

Yes, I am the biggest slacker in the history of slacking, but regardless, the show must go on! Second round matches, all of 'em!

High Stakes Bracket

(1) The Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy

Spoiler's Greatest Rival: BobbyR - Although Spoils dominated Bobby most of the time, this feud was the most heated blood feud in all of MBE in its history.

LB's Greatest Rival: Webweaver - These guys had some pretty good matches in the later stages of MBE.

(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY

James' Greatest Rival: Dr. Phantasmo - Exemplifying James' role in MBE more as an announcer, these two had a palpable dislike for each other in the broadcast booth.

FATTY's Greatest Rival: DocAwesome - A bitter feud from the early days.

(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo

Fly's Greatest Rival: Professor Tremendous - They had a pretty entertaining feud for the World Championship in the days when MBE was between 1Blob and A1.

Promo's Greatest Rival: Victor Molotov - Sure, he was technically from the UXW days, but since there was a merger, I'm counting it. They were two diametrically opposed characters and played off each other well.

(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow

Andy's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - Andy played the David to Spoils' Goliath well.

Freakshow's Greatest Rival: Professor Tremendous - The promos for these matches would always be off-the-charts entertaining.

Wednesday Night Warriors Bracket

(1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B

Maggot's Greatest Rival: Freakfish - From the first title match where I was the fresh-faced rook and FF the dominant Champion to the last one, where I held the gold and Double F was trying to get his gold back and everything in between, it was one hell of a ride.

Aussie's Greatest Rival: El Nino - They would be stable mates for a bit, but they're more known as rivals.

(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison

Webby's Greatest Rival: Londonboy - See LB's entry

Jack's Greatest Rival: Andrew Gilkison - Is there any other? This brotherly blood feud was among the most brutal in MBE history.

(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag

Prof's Greatest Rival: Housefly - See Fly's entry

Meatbag's Greatest Rival: PILE - They had some brouhahas back in the day, didn't they?

(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo

Mango's Greatest Rival: Hida Yakamo - The juxtaposition here is sublime, the oafish Mango and the sleek Asian Wonder.

El T's Greatest Rival: The TeamT Goat - I think this feud stemmed from the goat eating some of El T's precious antique cans :p

Lord of the Boards Bracket

(1) Freakfish vs. (9) dumi

FF's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - A career defining feud that Double F has tried to continue as recently as Spoils' HOF induction.

dumi's Greatest Rival: Paco the Wetback - A blood feud from the early days.

(4) IrishRed vs. (5) Duchess

Red's Greatest Rival: James Irish - A case where opposites didn't attract, stemming from the Mafia/Misfits feuding days.

Duchess' Greatest Rival: BobbyR - These two have been either at it or allied in some form since the beginning.

(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable

Bobby's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - See Naitch's entry

Justin's Greatest Rival: Doc Silver - V. 2.0 is the key here. Justin and Doc anchored a lot of the new action since the restart.

(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr. CableAccessTelevision

Paco's Greatest Rival: Londonboy - That LB got under a lot of folks' skins, didn't he? ;)

CATV's Greatest Rival: Professor Tremendous - So'd the Prof!

Total Elimination Bracket

(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada

Hida's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - The Red and Black Monster seems to be a lot of folks' white whale.

Yamada's Greatest Rival: Freakfish - They had a pretty good back and forth in early 2001.

(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5) DocAwesome

Mr. A!'s Greatest Rival: SweetJesusFunk - They were called Strange Bedfellows for a reason.

Doc's Greatest Rival: FATSEXY - See FATTY's entry

(2) PILE vs. (7) SweetJesusFunk

PILE's Greatest Rival: Hida Yakamo - A lot of bad blood here, culminating in a huge cage match in 2001 for the North American Championship.

SJF's Greatest Rival: See Mr. A!'s entry

(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) WhiteNoise

Loonie's Greatest Rival: Hida Yakamo - Another juxtaposition of styles, they had some classic encounters.

WN's Greatest Rival: OUTLAW - A very intense feud.

Ultimate MBE: The Next Two Brackets

Before I get into this entry, yes, I dropped from GTT6, and yes, I feel very shitty about it. However, I've run into a pretty busy time in real life right now, and there's no way I'd make the deadline. I did screw things up bigtime, but I'd rather bow out now and give people the heads up instead of flaking out by missing the sandbag deadline.

I'll make it up to you guys somehow else. I don't know how, because I feel so badly, but I will.

Also, a reminder to those who promised me guest blogs, well, the offer's still open. There's no deadline, and as long as I write here, I'll be accepting guest entries. However, I don't want you guys to forget about things, and I'm actually quite interested in seeing what you guys have to say. I've already gotten two fantastic guest entries and a third... well, I'll be nice and say it was interesting :). But if Dave's and Shane's entries are the indication, then I think the readership can benefit from hearing what you guys have to say greatly.

So in short... take your time, but don't forget ;)

And you other bloggers out there... an update would be nice :p

Alright, finally to the reason of the entry, I've been slacking on the Ultimate MBE Tournament, so to keep things moving, I'll do the other two first round brackets in one entry. Ultimate MBE: Seeding discussion

Finally have everything in here tagged for her comfort... err, I mean your convenience. So peruse at your will.

Onto the meat, we all remember the Ultimate A1E Tournament that hijacked the blog for the better part of two months in the summertime. Now, it's the senior A1 fed's turn to get the Ultimate Tournament treatment, and what better time to do that than now, while on the comeback trail. Speaking of said comeback trail, have you at least given thought to joining MBE yet? Trust me, the atmosphere is fantastic, you'll interact with handlers that you can't find anywhere else on any other eW circuit, the booking is rock solid and you'll definitely find the writeup style to be at least a change of pace from the norm.

Anyway, onto the tournament, we can't hold one until we get the seeding down. Like we did for the A1E shindig, I'm going to have everyone and anyone who was ever involved in MBE help decide the seeding for it. I'll post a thread over at A1 and we'll start discussing it there.

Of course, feel free to post thoughts here. Oh yeah, and don't forget to check MBE out :p

The E-Fed Blog presents: Ultimate MBE!

Because I want to spur discussion about something other than GTT6 ;)

Reader Dan West, living with no less than 20 other living things in his Delaware Valley house that poop, asked about doing another one of those Ultimate tournaments, and although he didn't specify which fed, I'm pretty sure he was hinting at MBE. So, in order to give the people what they want, I'm presenting to you...

The Ultimate MBE Tournament

Much like I did with U-A1E, I'm going to go with 64 of MBE's best. I'll probably end up posting some discussion about this in the A1 Efed Smarts and Marks forum, but the seeding will be up in about a week or so. Same deal, I post matchups, you vote for them.

Anyhoo... I've still got two requests from the original entry to do, plus a fresh one that I got this morning. The status on all of those:

-Feud recaps... I may start doing those regularly, but I'll definitely do one in the next week.

-Guest bloggers... I'm still waiting on receiving the content from the two guest bloggers I commissioned (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!)

-And I got a good request from someone in chat this morning about the politics of being a fedhead. I'll tackle that this week too, or at least I'll try.

So anyway, look for the Ultimate MBE stuff at A1, as that'll get started sooner rather than later.

Your Ultimate A1E Winner...

Housefly

Three-time former World Champion, a former Tag and Cyber Champion, 2005 Pier Six Brawl winner, leader of The Empire, the face of A1E in the early years and its living legend in these modern times, and now, one more thing to add to his mantle...

The Ultimate A1E Tournament Champion.

Congrats!

Next up in the queue is definitely Ultimate MBE Tourament. They're definitely next because I don't want Jeff to have an aneurysm. After that... well, I'm open to suggestions. Ideas I have:

Ultimate EWI/GXW/EPW
Ultimate CSWA
Ultimate fWo

So yeah, more to come in the later months.

Ultimate A1E... THE FINAL MATCH!

Housefly vs. Big Dog

For all the marbles. Who should win? Who has the better A1E resumé? Who's meant more to A1E over the years?

In one corner, there's Housefly. He's won nearly every title A1E has had to offer. He's had epic feuds with the heavyweights over the years... Beast, Prisoner #187, Nemesys, Cross among others. He's carried the fed as an underdog face and as a megalomaniacal heel. Many say he's the face of A1E.

In the other corner though... there's Big Dog. If there's anyone who can give Fly a run for his money, it's Dog, who's won the World and Tag Championships, in one instance by himself. He was a part of the greatest tag team in A1E history. He's feuded with so many of the greats, Beast, Euclid and Anarchy, Inc. just to name a few. It could be said that Dog is the heart and soul of A1E.

So who wins this match? The face or the heart and soul? That's for you to decide.

Ultimate A1E... THE ELITE EIGHT~!

We're down to the final eight... the bracket finals.

Allen Thomas Regional Final

Housefly (1) vs. Richard Farnswirth (2)

This match has already happened a few times.

Housefly's Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: Lending infinite credibility to the A1E World Championshi.

Farnswirth's Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: Along with Chip Friendly, anchoring the Highland Park Social Club

Professor Bobo Regional Final

James Irish (4) vs. Ken Cloverleaf (2)

This one's happened too, I think.

James' Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: Helping pave the way for comedic characters to be able to hold the A1E World Heavyweight Championship... he came close, and he will win one one of these days, I know it.

Cloverleaf's Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: Making it okay for the World Champion to be a chickenshit heel.

Captain Suleimon Regional Final

Big Dog (1) vs. Prisoner 187 (2)

This match was actually Dog's first really huge win in A1E.

Dog's Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: Teaming with Gladiator and making the tag division in A1E the place to be for awhile.

187's Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: The Slambo angle... for shock value and for paving the way for Slambo the Clown's current incarnation.

The Moron Bros. Regional Final

Beast (1) vs. Chip Friendly (3)

Beast's Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: There are a few, but I'm going to pick bridging the gap between the FW and A1E worlds with his run in EPW.

Chip's Greatest Contribution to E-fedding: Along with Richard Farnswirth, anchoring the HPSC.

Saturday, June 03, 2006

Ultimate A1E: THE SWEET SIXTEEN~!

We're onto the regional semifinals, but before we get to those matchups, how about a recap of the Suleimon and Moron Bros. brackets, shall we?

Big Dog over IrishRed
Cross over Lindsay Troy
Prisoner 187 over Mr. Hyde
Mr. Hyde over Eight
Beast over Hida Yakamo
Andy Gilkison over Nemesys
Jericoholic Anonymous over Duchess
Chip Friendly over Necromancer

And now... the Sweet Sixteen~!

Allen Thomas Regional

Housefly (1) vs. Slambo the Clown (5)

Housefly's Real Life Counterpart: Chris Benoit - They're both smallish, great technical wrestlers. As faces, they make great underdogs, and no matter what affiliation, they're credible Champions.

Slambo's Real Life Counterpart: Eugene - They're both mentally deficient in some ways, and they both long to have friends. Thusly, they're both prone to be taken advantage of. Of course, Slambo's got much more of a meanstreak, and he's shown signs of lucidity, but I couldn't think of anyone better... and no, he's not Doink, not even evil Doink.

Richard Farnswirth (2) vs. Steven Shane (3)

Farnswirth's Real Life Counterpart: Ted DiBiase - Duh.

Shane's Real Life Counterpart: "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles - Young, cocky and chock full of talent. That would sum up why Phenomenal AJ is Sensational Shane's counterpart.

Professor Bobo Regional

Euclid (1) vs. James Irish (4)

Euclid's Real Life Counterpart: Bret Hart - They're both intense technicians who spent good parts of their careers wrestling with shadows. Both were proud Champions who may have been a bit underrated.

James Irish's Real Life Counterpart: Mick Foley, mostly in his Mankind or Foley Commissioner phase - The clown prince of A1E is very reminiscent of Mick Foley and his Corporate Mankind hijinx. Foley's first World Title win was long overdue, and so's James'.

Ken Cloverleaf (2) vs. Gladiator (3)

Ken Cloverleaf's Real Life Counterpart: Chris Jericho - Both are cocky as hell and both are supremely talented. They both bring the massive egos with comical undertones to the table, and both were unlikely yet very deserving Champions.

Gladiator's Real Life Counterpart: Bob Backlund - Both are very old-school characters. In face mode, they both embody ideals of honor and hard work. They diverge on their heel paths, seeing as Gladdy was never quite insane, but I think the face comparison works. BTW, this was the HARDEST FUCKING ONE TO DO!

Captain Suleimon Regional

Big Dog (1) vs. Cross (5)

Big Dog's Real Life Counterpart: American Badass Undertaker - Other than Taker stealing Dog's "Biggest dog in the yard" catchphrase :p. Both guys have the same blue-collar, kick ass and take names attitude.

Cross' Real Life Counterpart: Crow-era Sting - Both characters are mysterious, misunderstood, although Sting doesn't have the obvious religious overtones and Cross doesn't repell from the ceiling.

Prisoner 187 (2) vs. Mr. Hyde (3)

Prisoner's Real Life Counterpart: Raven - Like Raven in ECW, Prisoner 187 was a manipulative, cerebral, sacriligious, deadly preditorial Champion who commanded great respect from everyone in the fed. Like Raven later on in his career, 187 later on in his career has become watered down.

Hyde's Real Life Counterpart: Kevin Sullivan - Hyde is probably a much stronger character in this respect, but there's no denying that Kevin Sullivan's cerebral evil genius is reflected in Hyde's work.

Moron Bros. Bracket

Beast (1) vs. Andrew Gilkison (4)

Beast's Real Life Counterpart: Triple H - And no, not in the way you think I mean it :p. Although Triple H has won tons more World Championships, both have great similarities in character. Trips and Beast don't need to have the World Championship or be in the World Championship chase to habitate a main event feud with great attention. Both are big man workers who are proficient technically. And both are suspected of using steroids ;)

Andy Gilkison's Real Life Counterpart: Lance Storm - To invert Andy's A1 sig a bit... Not a great gimmick, but one hell of a worker.

Jericoholic Anonymous (2) vs. Chip Friendly (3)

JA's Real Life Coutnerpart: Christian - Goofy, undersized, not taken seriously by anyone but the most hardcore fans, but finally have gotten their due. That could describe either Christian or JA.

Chip Friendly's Real Life Counterpart: Kurt Angle - Chip's silver tongue is very reminiscent of Kurt Angle's, and their penchant for being weasily and trumping up accomplishments makes them compatible. Plus the ring style is similar.

Ultimate A1E: More Second Round Action~!

Before I get to the next batch of second round matchups, here's a look at the first entrants into the Sweet Sixteen.

Housefly over Drifter
Slambo over Torment
Farnswirth over Spoiler
Shane over Ryan
Euclid over Roddy
James over Snake and Eddie
Kenny over Mikey
Gladiator over Mr. A!

And now, for the Suleimon and Moron Bros. regionals

Captain Suleimon Bracket

Big Dog (1) vs. IrishRed (9)

Big Dog's greatest opponent... this is tricky. Do you go with the friend gone foe in Gladiator or the slowly-burnt yet always hot rivalry with Euclid? I think we'll say the latter here, because there was a lot more depth to that feud.

Red's best foe is probably James Irish, seeing that they main-evented the MBE Invasion TNW.

Lindsay Troy (4) vs. Cross (5)

I'd have to say that this match has happened before, and that Cross and Lindz may very well be each other's greatest opponent in A1E. There's an argument to be made for Lindz against Farnswirth or Beast, but I think in A1E, this was both their defining feud.

Prisoner 187 (2) vs. Lucifer (7)

187's greatest opponent is Housefly. That feud carried the first Vengeance to great heights (and this was with a stacked undercard too), plus it was probably the place where the World Championship ceased being this belt that people just RPed for and a legitimate centerpiece for angles.

Lucifer's biggest feud was with Mr. Hyde in the SIN breakup angle.

Mr. Hyde (3) vs. Eight (11)

If there's any A1E superstar who is inextricably linked with Mr. Hyde, it's Beast. Hyde made a living out of wrestling Beast in his too-short A1E career, and he was quite good at it. The two had great chemistry, and it's a shame we didn't get to see more of it before Hyde's unfortunate retirement.

Eight's best opponent is Drifter, as they had a good back-and-forth with the Triple Star Championship.

Moron Bros. Bracket

Beast (1) vs. Hida Yakamo (9)

Well what do you know? Both these guys' greatest opponent is Housefly, but for different reasons. Beast's feudage with Fly has been the stuff of legends, while Hida's only real feud since joining A1E has been with Fly.

Andrew Gilkison (4) vs. Nemesys (5)

Crap, these two had a pretty hot couple of matches over the Cyber Title in the early, early days of A1E, but neither are each other's best opponent.

FOr Andy, that would be Steven Shane. You could argue Fly or maybe the HPSC as a whole, but I thought his feud with Shane was a little more even and eventful than both of those.

For Nemesys, the answer is Beast. Their feud was a defining early feud in A1E, and even in its most recent incarnation, it still held up well.

Jericoholic Anonymous (2) vs. Duchess (7)

For JA... hrm, it's tough. If you want the New York Yankees to my Boston Red Sox, then it's definitely Chip Friendly. If you want the great early feud partner, it's Snake. But I think the real answer here is Richard Farnswirth, who's really been a great opponent to have coming back from the long layoff.

Duches... AJ Cirrus. Their feud was pretty hot and it culminated in a big match.

Chip Friendly (3) vs. Necromancer (6)

Chip's greatest opponent is probably Beast. They had at least two feuds culminate in PPV matches if my memory serves me correctly.

Necromancer's greatest opponent is a tie between Snake and Mikey because of the feud over the Tag Titles.

Ultimate A1E: Second Round (Thomas and Bobo Brackets)

Alright, here's the results from last round. No close matches here at all. Nearly all of them were shutouts or one-voters.

Beast over Vreck
Hida over Kanna
Gilkie over Mr. I
Nemesys over Canuck
JA over Bellview
Duchess over LB
Chip over Druid
Necro over Hitman

Anyway, here's the second round matchups for the Thomas and Bobo brackets. GOnna double up here to keep things moving. Also, I've decided to advance both Snake and Eddie to the second round, and in grand wrestling style, there's a three-way dance here!

Allen Thomas Bracket

Housefly (1) vs. Drifter (8)

I think this match has happened in A1E before, no? Anyway, I've listed their credentials in the previous round, so let's do something different for this round.

Fly's greatest opponent: This is a toughie, but I think I'll choose Beast here because of the sheer length of their hostility. You could make arguments for 187, Andy or even Nemesys for Fly here, but I think Fly and Beast has happened so many times over the years and each time it didn't seem old or recycled.

Drifter's greatest opponent: Would you believe it's himself? Well, not himself himself, but Nemesys. Don't really remember a whole lot of memorable feuds for Drifter except for a good self-angle he had with Nemesys over Lilith

Torment (4) vs. Slambo the Clown (5)

This match could have happened in A1E before, maybe during TURF WARZ 2K5~!

Torment's greatest opponent: Definitely Beast... man, Beast's been in a ton of great feuds, hasn't he? Anyway, their Cyber Title feud back in the day was the stuff of legends.

Slambo's greatest opponent: Slambo's always been more internally driven than feud-driven. I guess I'd say Dog and Ryan combined, because the tag feud they've had (including Chip) over the last month has been pretty hot. Someday (soon?), this answer will be Chip Friendly though.

Richard Farnswirth (2) vs. The Spoiler (7)

This hasn't happened yet, but it's a wet-dream match waiting to happen.

Farns' greatest opponent: It's a tossup between JA and Lindsay Troy... in the interest of not trying to pump myself up here, I'll go with Troy, since their feud helped cement the Triple Star Championship's status in A1E lore.

Spoiler's greatest (A1E) opponent: James Irish, since it's really been his only real A1E opponent thus far. I could say Promo and AJ, but that feud flamed out before it could begin.

Steven Shane (3) vs. Dan Ryan (6)

Hasn't happened in A1E yet, probably won't either. But it's on Shane's wishlist of matches he wants to have :)

Shane's greatest opponent: James Irish. I'd have to say that even though Shane kinda owned the feud, the win-loss tally doesn't say enough for how hard James pushed him.

Ryan's greatest (A1E) opponent: I'd say Duchess, but he'll shoot me :) Nah, seriously, it's Haven. They have a great sub-feud going, and for the last few months, it's been a calculated game of cat and mouse, only much more violent. I guess they're having a calculated game of Itchy and Scratchy.

Professor Bobo Bracket:

Euclid (1) vs. Roderick McRatrick (8)

This match hasn't happened yet, although Dave would probably hate me more than he already does if it ever did :p

Euclid's greatest opponent: No doubt it's Big Dog. I mean, these two are inextricably linked, and I don't think E's had an opponent like Dog who pushed him and whom he pushed in twain.

Roderick's greatest opponent: Sanity? :p Nah, I think if I had to pick for Roddy, it would probably be Promo, since they had a good two-match series back a year or so ago. Roddy was never really good for feuds as much as he was for mini-series.

James Irish (4) vs. Liquid Snake (5) vs. Eddie Weston (12)

This match has never happened in this iteration, although I think James and Eddie faced off before... in fact, I know they did, with Eddie unsucessfully challenging for the TST.

James' greatest opponent: I could go with one of the guys for whom he's the greatest opponent... but I think the best answer here is IrishRed.

Snake's greatest opponent: JA.... I don't think this is debateable, unless you want to throw tag team considerations in. Then Beast would have a case. But really, this is the only time I would debate for myself.

Eddie's greatest opponent: This is also probably non-negotiable. Andy Gilkison so far has been Eddie's defining opponent.

Ken Cloverleaf (2) vs. Mikey F'n W (7)

This hasn't happened before, and I don't think it will barring some comebacks.

Ken's greatest opponent: Housefly, I'll guess. They had a pretty hot feud in the first part of 2005.

Mikey's greatest opponent: Xavier Storm. They had one of the great early feuds in A1E, a feud that helped define a fed early on in its existance.

Gladiator (3) vs. Mr. Amazing! (6)

This match hasn't happened yet, and unless Jarret b rings back Gladdy, it probably won't.

Gladiator's greatest opponent: Big Dog. This is not debatable.

Mr. A!'s greatest opponent: This is tough... I'd probably say either IrishRed or James Irish (either way, it's someone Irish!) Lands on heads, Red it is.

Ultimate A1E: The Moron Bros. Bracket

First up, the tallies from the Sully bracket.

Big Dog over Suicidal Killer
IrishRed over Cannibal
Lindsay Troy over BC Steele
Cross over Zer0
Prisoner 187 over ChessMaster
Lucifer over Leatherface
Mr. Hyde over Kayafaber
Eight over Damon Blackburn

ANd now, finally, the last bracket of this first round, the Moron Bros. Bracket!

Beast (1) vs. Vreck Stone (16)

Beast won every title there was to win in A1E except the Triple Star Championship. Until Bloody New Year '06, he was the best wrestler never to win the World Championship. He's had legendary feuds with Nemesys, Mikey and Snake, Fly, SIN, JA, Big Dog... he elevated the Survivor Championship to be the most prestigious, non-World Championship belt in the company. He could very well be the ultimate A1E superstar.

Vreck Stone didn't have much success in the way of titles, but he was a fairly interesting character who happened to talk to zombies :)

Kanna Kirishima (8) vs. Hida Yakamo (9)

Kanna Kirishima was the first ever A1E Survivor Champion and holder of the Tag TEam Championships, as well as a major player in the MBE Invasion angle.

Hida Yakamo was also a major player in the MBE Invasion angle, as well as a big player with a "jump-ship" angle earlier in A1E, as well as an interfed angle with JA and his current run in A1E is pretty good too.

Andrew Gilkison (4) vs. Mr. Incredible (13)

Andy's a two-time Cyber Champion and a perennial World Championship contender. He was also a founding member of the HPSC and has had an interesting angle with them going in the recent past.

Mr. Incredible held the Survivor Championship, and was consensus the least crappy of Fordyce's characters *devil smiley*

Nemesys (5) vs. Canuck (12)

Nemesys was a founding father of A1E. He feuded with Beast in one of the fed's great, early feuds, held the Cyber and Survivor Championships, and was a part of a competitive series with Fly for the A1E World Championship.

Canuck, outside of feuding with Roderick McRatrick and befriending Tank Jew *devil smiley*, was most known for his dethroning of Chip Friendly for the Cyber Championship.

Jericoholic Anonymous (2) vs. Jeffrey Bellview (15)

JA really hasn't done anything special ever.

Jeffery Bellview was a part of the Dog and Gladdy/E and Druid/Friendly Psychosis tag team feud that redefined a division, and battled Kayafaber in a brutal Sanitarium match.

Duchess (7) vs. Londonboy (10)

Duchess has won the Triple Star and Cyber Championships and is a current member of the HPSC.

Londonboy, before becoming a famous jobber, was involved in the title scene early on with Fly and Kaya, and he had a memorable tag feud with X adn Magnus Tobita.

Chip Friendly (3) vs. Druid (14)

Chip Friendly has had mammoth long reigns with the Cyber and Triple Star Championships, is a current Tag Team Champion, was a part of that epic three way tag feud, feuded extensively with Beast and is a founding member of the HPSC.

Druid was also a member of said tag feud and held the Tag Team Championships with Euclid.

Necromancer (6) vs. Canadian Hitman (11)

Necromancer was an important member of early A1E, holding the Tag Titles, co-founding SIN, and later on, managing Mindkiller.

Canadian Hitman was a Cyber Champion and feuded with JA.

Ultimate A1E: The Captain Suleimon Regional

Before we get to that, the results of the Bobo Bracket:

Euclid over FATSEXY
Roderick McRatrick over Hayt
James Irish over Dam Skippy
Snake/Eddie Weston TIED! Waiting on a tiebreaker vote that I need to get from a certain head booking insect ;)
Ken Cloverleaf over Reaper
Mikey F'n W over Xavier Storm
Gladiator over Freakshow
Mr. Amazing! over Haven

And now...

The Captain Suleimon Regional

Big Dog (1) vs. Suicidal Killer (16)

Big Dog... they don't make 'em any more legendary than Big Dog. Winner of one and a half Pier Six Brawls, key member of the hottest tag feud in A1E history, multiple time Tag Title holder, and lest we forget, the mammoth World Championship run.

Suicidal Killer put in his time and logged some key matches. He's also one of two A1E superstars who've died.

Cannibal (8) vs. IrishRed (9)

Cannibal was one of early A1E's major players. The original Hardcore Icon, he was the master of the flaming table. While he didn't hold any titles, he was a key player in JA's face turn, a member of the Unholy Alliance, World Championship contender and he had a vicious match with Nemesys that was really one of the great spill-into-the-back brawls in A1E history.

In Red's short time in A1E, he's led a major MBE invasion, came close to carrying his cousin Elim to the Tag Championships, placed second in the most recent Pier Six Brawl and has a good shot to win the Triple Star Championship.

Lindsay Troy (4) vs. BC Steele (13)

Troy held the Tag, Triple Star and Cyber Championships, was a major player in the Empire Angle, was a constant thorn in Beast's side, and was the first person to mention the sacred name of Dennis Edward Mayfield on A1E television :p

BC Steele held the Triple Star Championship and was a member of the Canadian Revolution.

Cross (5) vs. Zer0 (12)

Cross is perhaps the most underrated A1E superstar ever. He held the World and Cyber Championships and was involved in one of the most intense feuds of all-time with Lindsay Troy, a feud that culminated in a scaffold match.

Zer0 was a multiple time Tag Team Champion, and perhaps the most interesting member of the Collective.

Prisoner 187 (2) vs. ChessMaster (15)

Prisoner 187 in early A1E was one of the most dominant stars ever. He was behind of of A1E's greatest swerves as he was the original Slambo the Clown. He won the Cyber, World, Tag and Survivor Championships.

ChessMaster won a few matches here and there.

Lucifer (7) vs. Leatherface (10)

Lucifer was a key member of SIN and got himself involved in the World Championship scene, culminating in a title match against Big Dog and Mr. Hyde.

Leatherface was a former Tag Team Champion with his brother Torgo, and the duo formed one of the most interesting and successful teams in A1E history.

Mr. Hyde (3) vs. Kayafaber (14)

Mr. Hyde was a former A1E World Champion, a semifinalist in the first ever A1E Number One Contenders Tournament, a character known for his success and feuds with Beast, and is regarded as one of the great characters in A1E history who should have stuck around longer than he did. He was also a figure in JA's heel run as a manager, the "voice in the darkness."

Kayafaber won the World and Cyber Championships in the early days of A1E.

Damon Blackburn (6) vs. Eight (11)

Damon Blackburn has held the Tag and Triple Star Championships, and was a member of Hybrid with Big Wreck.

Eight, a Collective member, has held the Tag Team Championships.

Ultimate A1E Tournament: Professor Bobo Bracket

Before we get to this bracket, the results for the Allen Thomas Regional:

Housefly over Tick
Drifter over Torgo (in the only real close match in the first round thus far)
Torment over Pharaoh
Slambo over Metal
Farnswirth over Lady Rebellion
Spoiler over Freakfish
Shane over Chameleon
Ryan over Cirrus

Now, onto the next regional... let's say this bracket is done Wednesday.

Euclid (1) vs. FATSEXY (16)

Euclid is bar-none, one of the best all-around characters to grace an A1E ring. He's won the Tag Team Championships with two separate partners, held the World Championship for almost a year (if not over a year? someone help me here). He was part of the hottest tag team feud of all time (E and Druid vs. Dog and Gladdy vs. Chip and Bellview), and his feud with Big Dog is one of A1E's all time greatest.

FATSEXY made his A1E mark mostly early in the fed's history, and he also made a run in the tag ranks with Sabumafoo, even earning a Number One Contendership to the Tag Titles, which was never materialized due to Sabumafoo's unfortunate banning (well not unfortunate... make disparaging comments about the US during 9/11 and you deserve a banning).

Roderick McRatrick (8) vs. Hayt (9)

I hate doing these for my own characters, because I always feel like I'm going to fluff him up too much... so here's the bare essentials: Held the Triple Star Championship for a good long while, feuded with Canuck and Tank Jew :p

Hayt didn't win any titles, but he was a very important player in early A1E. He was a part of the Unholy Alliance with Metal and Cannibal, beat JA in the first Spiked Funeral Pyre match, and was one of the best pure promos on the roster.

James Irish (4) vs. Dam Skippy (13)

Don't listen to James when talking about himself... he deserves this seeding. He held the Cyber Championship, has a 2-0 A1E record against Dan Ryan, was a major player in the World Championship scene, held the Triple Star Championship for a good long time, is a major player in the Spoiler/Hida two-man invasion angle, and of course, is one of the most over faces A1E history.

Skip had a good run in A1E, most notably with his two runs with the Cyber Championship and his feud with Doc Silver.

Snake (5) vs. Eddie Weston (12)

Snake's run may have been short, but it was brilliant. He was one-half of the first ever A1E Tag Team Champions and held the World Championship, ending Fly's second reign, which was no easy task.

Eddie Weston's resume includes the Cyber Championship, being an integral member of Anarchy, Inc., and holding wins over JA, Beast and Big Dog, earning a rep as being a Legend Killer.

Ken Cloverleaf (2) vs. Reaper (15)

Kenny had great success both in the tag and singles ranks. In the former, he and Shane formed perhaps the most dominant tag team ever in Sensationally Perfect. In the latter, he stormed through the Number One Contenders' TOurnament, co-winning that with James Irish and then coming out on top at Golden Dreams that same year, winning the World Championship in a match featuring Torment, Shane and James Irish. He held that title for over six months.

Reaper was one of the early Cyber Champions, beating Andy Gilkison for the title. He lost it a month later, and his last claim to fame was being Torment's first opponent in A1E.

Mikey F'n W (7) vs. Xavier Storm (10)

Mikey was known early on in his career as A1E's jobber. However, he quickly outgrew that and started getting some success, first in the tag ranks with Snake, as they won the tournament to crown the first ever A1E Tag Champions. His feud with Xavier Storm also counts as one of A1E's great early feuds.

Speaking of X, he was the first ever A1E World Champion, an A1E Cyber Champion (who bridged the gap between the two most important Cyber reigns in A1E history, IMO). Plus the feud with Mikey.

Gladiator (3) vs. Freakshow (14)

Gladiator, for being a secondary character, has done it all. Won the World and Tag Championships, won Pier Six, was a part of the HUGE Empire angle, was a part of the hottest tag feud ever (see Euclid's entry :P), and his resume of feuds includes Captain Suleimon, Big Dog and Housefly.

Freakshow in A1E is more known for potential rather than results, although he has won the Survivor Championship.

Mr. Amazing! (6) vs. Haven (11)

In Mr. A!'s short time in A1E, he's established himself as a heavyweight. He's won the Triple Star Championship and has faced off against bigtime foes such as James Irish and Richard Farnswirth. His March To Glory is one of the best arcs in the company right now.

Haven's main credentials are his epic Tag Title reign with Torment and his being a founding father of Anarchy, Inc. He's also in a very hot feud with Dan Ryan.

Ultimate A1E: FIrst Round Allen Thomas Bracket

Here you go, voting now begins on these eight first round matchups. Voting begins today, ends... let's say Thursday. Vote and give a good reason, pertaining to A1E work only.

The Allen Thomas Regional

Housefly (1) vs. The Tick (16)

Housefly perhaps is the most decorated A1E superstar of all-time. Three A1E World Championships, the Cyber Title, a Tag title reign, he won Pier Six. He was the face of the company during the early years, and perhaps still is the face of it now.

The Tick was a highly entertaining comedy character who didn't do much in the way of titles or angles. However, he had a very amusing run, and despite his lack of longevity, is one of the more memorable characters in A1E history.

Drifter (8) vs. Torgo (9)

Drifter is a multiple time Triple Star Champion, and a huge part of the Empire angle. Bryon (Nemesys') secondary character, he feuded with Nemesys and played an important part in several storylines.

Torgo, along with his tag partner Leatherface, were one of the most interesting tag teams in A1E, if not one of the best. He stuttered, talked to his "Master," and, oh yeah, won a few Tag Titles along the way.

Torment (4) vs. Pharaoh (13)

Torment has won nearly every title A1E has had to offer over the years, and has had some pretty epic reigns with some of those secondary titles. He boasts probably the most important Cyber Title reign ever, plus a hefty Triple Star and Tag Championship reign as well, along with being a key member of two important stables (SIN and Anarchy, Inc.)

Pharaoh's claim to fame in A1E was his stillborn feud with Beast. Aside from that, he won a few matches and briefly flirted with the World Title scene as he got into a match against Chip Friendly and Jericoholic Anonymous, the winner of which (JA) ended up getting a World Title program.

Slambo the Clown (5) vs. Metal (12)

Counting only the current incarnation of Slambo the Clown, you'd still have one hell of a resume. He held the Cyber, Tag and Survivor Titles and is an important member of the HSPC, perhaps A1E's best stable ever.

Metal was a key figure in early A1E. He didn't hold any titles, but he was a part of the Unholy Alliance with Hayt and Cannibal and of course, SIN. He was a conduit for many feuds and angles in early A1E, and clearly is one of its founding fathers.

Richard Farnswirth (2) vs. Lady Rebellion (15)

Farnswirth is the longest reigning Triple Star Champion ever, as well as a former World Champion and the figurehead of the HPSC, the best stable in A1E now and one of the two best of all-time.

Lady Rebellion was a founding member of that other stable, SIN, and she held the Tag Titles as well.

The Spoiler (7) vs. Freakfish (10)

In a discussion about MBE, this is a final matchup. But since this is A1E...

Spoiler is the current Cyber Champion and a former Tag Team Champion with Freakfish. He initially made an impact with an abortive feud against AJ Cirrus and Promo, but now is back with another very intriguing storyline against Fly and James Irish.

Freakfish won the Tag Championships and was a part of that abortive feud with Promo and AJ.

Senstational Steven Shane (3) vs. Chameleon (14)

Senstational Steven Shane was a member of one of the most dominant tag teams in A1E history (Sensationally Perfect), the longest reigning Cyber Champion of all time, and a perennial #1 contender for the World Championship.

Chameleon didn't win any titles, but was a key player in the Empire angle, and he came very close to winning the Cyber Title.

Dan Ryan (6) vs. AJ Cirrus (11)

Dan Ryan has not won any titles in A1E, but he's been a major player in several angles, most recently in Big Dog's fight against Anarchy, Inc. He's a major player for the Tag Titles right now with Dog, and he's acknowledged as one of the best characters in A1E right now.

AJ Cirrus is a former Cyber and Tag Team Champion, a founding father of the Canadian Revolution and has been involved in several hot feuds, most notably with Duchess.
