A few of my favorite wrestlers - PRIME

You thought I was finished with this series, didn't you? Haha, well, I thought since I started following a few more feds, I could bring it back for said more feds. We'll start with PRIME if only because I'm reading ReV 103 right now (good read so far, btw... same with the latest NAPW's latest TNF and AWC's Fresh!special card).

Ivan Stanislav - Seriously, the random "DYAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH"s in the middle of matches are classic, quite possibly my favorite thing in e-fedding right now. Hutch's Russian Bear is legendary amongst PTC faithful, and it's easy to see why.

Tony Gamble - This is how an old school heel should act. Attacking from the shadows, acting more pompous than a peacock trying to attract a mate, stealing title belts, chickenshitting it from the faces... good to see someone not doing the UBERBADASSHEEL that everyone else tries to do.

Nova
The Illustrious Face-Eater - I can't really separate these two right now because I think their angle and feud make them intertwined so closely. Seriously, I think this could be the feud of the year before everything's said and done. Glued hands, pot hijinx... I can even look past the fact that they don't know not to call cheesesteaks "Philly cheesesteaks." :p

Adam - Something about a Scotsman who's so ready to get into drag amuses me very much.

A few of my favorite characters -- odds and ends, plus an AWC PPV~!

First things first...

AWC Twilight of the Gods... clicky clicky

Biggest AWC show ever, but most of it is matches, which is a refreshing change from the last PPV. Check it out, and congratulations are in order for Ellis Nash and Adam Dick who won the Frontier and Transatlantic Championships respectively.

Now, as a coda for my favorite characters series, I'm gonna list more than five of my favorite characters from past feds and stuff, probably mostly from A1E and MBE back in the day. Once again, in no particular order...

Professor Tremendous Perhaps my favorite Dan West incarnation and in my Holy Trinity of God-like E-fed Characters (with Olvir Arsvinnar and Lowell Dot Com), ProfT paved the way for guys like JA to win the World Championship despite not being über-serious. Seriously, most, if not all comedic characters on the A1 circuit derive some kind of influence from the Good Professor, and I've had many a laugh at him, most recently at the ENN Awards, accepting Troy Windham's Heel of the Y Year award.

Mr. Hyde Honestly, he had potential to be the greatest A1E Champion of all time, but a combination of low self-esteem and shitty computer service kinda led him to peter out in e-fedding after he lost the title. A great, cerebral and dark character, he's one of the very few who can pull that style off without being superpretentious.

Angelo Deville I've only really been exposed to him in his short stint in NFW West and through a few scattered PTC-related RPs here and there, but really, the dude can write and the character is really compelling. His style is so sweet too. In the PTC world, he's milk chocolate in a sea of brined liver. Wish he'd make a comeback in one of the angle feds or in NFW.

Shane Southern When I read backlogs of NFW's first season, I read one of the most brilliant, slow-cooked heel turns of all-time, one that culminated with him trashing the ULTRATITLE trophy after losing to Michael Manson. And then he got a job and had to quit. I was so bummed, especially with the dawn of a new season as a heel after 10 years as the über-face. But no matter if he comes back heel or face, if he ever does, I'll mark hardcore.

Liquid Snake My original partner in crime and such a blast to RP with and against. I had some of my best early material bouncing off of him as a rival. Hell, we pretty much invented most of JA's backstory in one promo thread. You can't buy sponteneity like that for a million bucks anymore. Everything's so structured and planned out in advance. In a way, it's better now, but there's no denying there were aspects back then that were better than how we do things today. The innocence, spoteneity, the organicity of everything. That's what I miss about the old days, and in a way, Snake reminds me of those days.

Xavier Storm There was such an absurdity to the character that it provided for entertaining reading most of the time. I mean, sure he was unreadable, and he was a no-shower as World Champion, so that's never good. But nine times out of ten, he put up interesting promos, and he carried A1E early with one of the first real feuds he had with Mikey F'n W. Good times.

Mr. Cable-Access Television Sure, the character started as a shameless rip of RVD, but it grew, like most of us do, and he turned out to be one of the guys who would have been carrying MBE had it survived past the UXW merger. He always had a different vibe to his promos, and that's a good thing for the most part. Plus he was a hell of an angle partner.

Johnny Morgan It takes huge, giant brass balls to run a racist character in any fed. There are times people will project those beliefs onto you and your character might end up not being welcome in the fed he's in. In a way, Johnny is a favorite of mine mainly because of the balls Nemmy showed in handling him. Yes, he got a lot of hate, and so did I for letting him run in my fed. But at the end of the day, he was doing compelling stuff, and he fit into the fabric of the fed. That's all you can ask for, and I feel UXW was richer for having Johnny aboard.

Promo Of course I have to give it up to the only UXW Champion in history. I remember the character started out slowly, but the character got fleshed out in a hurry and at the right time too, right in time for the UXW Title Tournament. Always a great read when Brian dusts him off.

Pharaoh There are plenty of Bill Dempsey characters who could go here, but Pharaoh gets the nod for a few reasons. One, I don't think the character ever got its due. P was definitely main event level, but for some reason, he never got the chance to run. I really think A1E dropped the ball not running with the Beast/Pharaoh program. Two, it's really amazing that a white guy living in Manhattan could capture a poor ex-con from East St. Louis so perfectly. I think for that alone I respect the character and Bill's overall ability to create and craft a character.

A few of my favorite characters -- NFW West

Once again, no particular order...

Joey Melton Really, any fed he's in, he's writing great stuff, but since coming into NFW again this season, he's reinvigorated the West, which only really had Miles/Mayfield and a little bit of New South going for them at the time. The Flair/Melton match is a must-read. I also hear that the Randalls/Melton stuff is pretty good, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I will though, Katz. I will.

Guy Boudreaux There's something about cheating bastards with Cajun accents who may or may not be trying to confuse people into believing they're Shane Southern that I really like...

Eddie Mayfield Seriously, if you don't mark out for Eddie Mayfield, you have no soul. That's all I have to say about that.

Troy Windham I mulled over whether I wanted to leave him off the list or not because of Gregg's recent retirement, but I have a feeling that Katz and crew will keep Troy-diddy going in NPC form, and that still doesn't negate all the cool stuff he's done all season. One of the great heel characters of our time.

Calvin Carlton I know he's an NPC manager, but seriously, he's the only NPC manager I know of who can steal a segment, especially when Melton is making fun of his momma.

Two HYOOGE PPVs and a few of my favorite characters -- NFW East

Before we get to the character pimpage, it's time for some PPV action.

First up, ACW delivers BIG TIME with Honor and Glory. Seriously, I think this comes close to, if not surpasses, Legends II. 2006 is at least starting off well for ACW. Check the SotF main event, and major props go out to Mike Renner, Michael Dupin and Sean Williams for writing this bad boy, and check out the Spirit of ACW 2/3 falls match between Andy Sharp and Max Danger, and again, mad propers going out to Seth Silver and Dupin. I'd also like to solicit a little feedback for those of you who aren't narrative-impaired to check out my Suleimon/Republican match and give me feedback and criticism on it, because I need it like a junkie needs smack.

Next up, there's AWC Bloodlust, another good read. Props go out to Josh Young for writing the Suleimon match well (although I'm a bit bummed at the loss... but hey, losses build character), and big congratulations go out to Jack Murphy for winning the Transatlantic Championship and to Taso for capturing the Alliance Titles with Celestial Fury (Butterfly Hamada and The Green Grappler). Also, a bittersweet moment as we say farewell (at least for now) to Paddy O'Shea from AWC. He will be missed.

And now, a few of my favorite characters from NFW East. I was going to do NFW on the whole, but it's really like two different feds under one banner. So I'll split it up by conference. Once again, in no particular order...

Yori Yakamo, Jr. Seriously, one of the funniest characters I've ever read. I don't know what it is about overt perversion and sexuality or blasphemy that is so funny, but really, every YYJ promo is a MUST-READ, and I don't say that about many characters. What he's doing for comedic characters in the NFW East this year is truly a great thing, because comedic characters deserve World Titles too, dammit.

Beau Michaels Once again, outrageous factor over here. NFW East is home to a lot of over-the-top characters, and Beau is no exception. I often stare at my screen in amazement at the balls Edmunds has to post some of the things he does at Beau, but most of the time, it's well-written and entertaining.

Felix Red Strange bird, this one is, but hey, I can't say I'm not enjoying the whole Kooter thing he's got going. As freaky as his promos and segments are, there's something strangely alluring about them that you can't seem to avert your attention elsewhere when your eyes hit the words. I mean, sometimes it just doesn't make sense, but you still keep reading. That's Felix Red.

Michael Manson You can't say enough about the way McNic's handled this season. There's such an allure to some folks to try and plug on and defend the UT with all the fury of someone trying to repeat, but instead, he's taking out time to help other folks get their storylines over and in the same vein, is playing up a major, major change to his character (albeit a temporary one) to make things more interesting. I'll admit to not being the Manson character's biggest fan in the past, but this season, he's been on, and I've gained an all new respect for the character and the handler.

Kin Hiroshi Kin will always be an underrated character wherever he goes because he's not afraid to try new stuff, but at the same time, he's also not going to be the flashiest or the biggest name (despite being around for a good while). Well, I will go on record to say I appreciate Kin, and I think he's been doing some good, under-the-radar stuff in the East since he came back. His match with Kevin Powers in week 2 was a good shock to the roster, and his stories with addiction and his harassing of Doc Silver for his NFW Title shot have been compelling and amusing respectively.

A few of my favorite characters -- NEW

One of the two feds I've ever won the World Championship in... once again, in no particular order.

MWG One of the most insane characters I've ever read, but I think he's the sort of benchmark for the kind of attitude NEW wants to have. I'll never forget that RP he posted where his valet Krist Blue was doing something sexually explicit to Ashlee Simpson. It was a little over the top, but I enjoyed it. I think he's ripe to become the NEW Champion this year.

The Masked Man It kinda sucks that Steve A. had to be a bitch by taking his ball and running home with it after he dropped the World Title, because this angle he had with the Masked Man looked pretty interesting. Still though, this Masked Man has my attention, especially to see who he really is when he unmasks.

Jason Payne Jason's always a solid character wherever he goes, but he always seems to be overshadowed by some of the "bigger" names. Well, Mr. Payne has what it takes to be a big name, and I think the best place for him to show his stuff is in NEW, where he doesn't have a Manson or a Lindsay Troy or a Melton or a Beau Michaels/Kooter Cruise/Felix Red to take the spotlight away from him. If he sticks around, I think that he will use the NEW spotlight to vault himself in NFW and EPW and make more people take notice. I think this feud with Chris McMillan that seems to be brewing will do wonders for that.

Mr. Entertainment I think Karl still needs to work the kinks out of the character and make him a little less choppy in his delivery, but I like the concept and I like the things he's been doing with the character. This has great potential to be an anchor for the TV division for months to come.

Insurgent He could be a GREAT foil for The Phantom Republican. Stanton's the best handler to do a leftist conspiracy theorist character archetype, and I think he's a great fit for NEW, with or without my Republican maven.

A (temporary?) farewell... and a few of my favorite characters -- LVW

First off, Gregg Gethard has announced his retirement from e-fedding. Huge loss to the CSWA, NFW West and EPW and to the hobby altogether, seeing that his characters are among my favorites in any fed he's in. He has hinted that he'll be back, but for now, I'd like to wish him good luck with his Masters, his upcoming marriage and his writing career. We don't know if he's gone for good or just for a bit, but if it is permanent, well, it's nice to have a proper send-off.

And now... back to the favorite characters. I'm skipping the fWo because of the limbo we're in there, so that brings us to my favorite new fed on the block, Las Vegas Wrestling. Honestly... this is the hardest fed for me just to pick five favorites, because everyone really has a kick-ass character here, but I do what I must. Once again, in no particular order.

Olvir Arsvinnar The pornographic Viking... who really is a Viking. Seriously, this may be the greatest character ever (along with Lowell Dot Com and Professor Tremendous). I knew from the moment I read his first preview segment on the third LVW card that this character would be money. Honestly, I salivate at the entertainment value an RP thread between him and my own Jimmy Donovan would bring.

Elvis Aaron Presley It's a shame he had to run into Olvir in the LVW tournament, because an Elvis impersonating wrestler is an idea that's overdue. I guess a fed based in Las Vegas, the Elvis impersonator capital of the world, had to come along for Elvis to enter the ring. Still, it's a great gimmick.

Hans Nowak Sometimes I read a profile and I just become enamored with the little things. Like Nowak winning the U-62's World's Strongest Man competition three times. The little things. That's not to say that's the only thing I like about Hans. I love the RP style, and I'm interested to see what he does with Miss Ann too. All in all, I think he should be the co-favorite to win the LVW title (With Olvir, of course)

Bill Bellmoth A guy who talks to janitors about how great he is and wears a headset in the ring to call his own matches, most of the time while getting his ass kicked... folks, this character is gold. Proof that you don't need to win matches to have an über-entertaining character.

Ben Lerner Once again, another gimmick whose time is overdue, the sue-happy loawyer wrestler. Honestly, unlike Elvis, this character could work well in any fed, but for some reason, I think it clicks the best in LVW, even though schyster lawyers aren't really associated with Las Vegas in any big way.

A few of my favorite characters -- EPW

The next in my series of favorite lists... leaving out CSWA for now because of relative inactivity. Next up is my home away from home fed, Empire Pro Wrestling. Of course, these are in no particular order.

Shawn Hart/Steve Savoy I have to say, I was genuinely disappointed when Ryan disappeared before the end of our program last year. Not just because angle/feud partners dropping out on me was commonplace and I didn't quite like it, but because JA and Savoy were having such a ridiculous but fun feud, I wanted to give it a proper end. It's a good thing he did come back. Hart is perhaps the only character in the world aside from Roderick McRatrick or perhaps Mike Wade who'd make JA be the straight man in a feud. He's probably the ideal character to be JA's nemesis, especially if they have Ron Artest and Bill Laimbeer seconding them.

IrishRed Put here in EPW mainly because I love the angle he's running here. It takes guts to run an angle where you sabotage your own heat in an RP fed, and Shane's doing just that. Quite frankly, it has a ton of potential, and it may be the most entertaining angle that EPW or the wrestling world could see this year.

Lindsay Troy What can I say, she was the centerpiece of 2005's Angle of the Year. She's also always an entertaining read when she posts a promo. I admit it, I'm a fan of the edgy, snarky style she has.

Troy Windham's Entourage I'm actually more of a fan of August than I am of Troy-diddy. He's a better heel, he gets under my skin more (in an IC sense), and that's a good thing. Plus, any time Z! goes on about his calves, it's a guaranteed laugh and a half. I'd love to see Gregg concentrate more on these guys in the EPW Tag Division. With them, the HPSC, Sensationally Perfect, Blitz and of course, my own Priest and Eisenkreuz, EPW might have the best tag division since A1E had that extremely HOT three way feud amongst Euclid/Druid, Friendly/Bellview and Dog/Gladiator.

The Sergeant Love the intensity and exuberance. He's got a very simple and straightforward approach to things, and it works. He knows how to build heat, and I like that he doesn't rely on straightforward trash-talks for all his RPs. I think we're looking at the future of EPW here, especially if he's got guys like Frankie Scott, Adam Benjamin and Mike Evers to work with.

A few of my favorite characters -- AWC

Once again, in no particular order.

The Furious Fists of God I don't know what it is about not-so-subtly white supremacist Christians, doing the work of the White Lord, that is so appealing, but this tag team is so funny and entertaining. They're very well-written, and barring writer burnout, they should be the team to beat in 2006 across any fed.

Mike Wade Having read through so many GTT5 and AWC RPs, a lot of the folks who are main eventers or superstars write in such a dense, serious style. It works for some, it doesn't work for others, but they all seem to want to try and write dramatic novels on the way up. That's not really so with Wade, and that is über-refreshing. I mean, anyone who can write an RP based around parodying Eminem's "Stan" is aces in my book. Plus his segments with his Unfuckable partner Adam Dick are must-reads on any card. Join the parade~!

Chainz Murder angles aside, Chainz is one of the best sadistic heels in the game. He has a proclivity to go a little too far at times, but you always get the sense that he's a monster and he's doing monstruous things. He's a very well-written character as well.

Adam Dick Cut from the same cloth as Mike Wade is, and of course, that's a good thing. A little more serious than Wade, but that's alright. He's always an entertaining read for me. Love the Transatlantic Crown too.

Paddy O'Shea I like that he's a classic babyface in a world where classic babyfaces are very hard to come by. Plus, he's got a bigger cock than you.

A few of my favorite characters -- ACW

Once again, in no particular order...

Lowell Dot Com The Shillin' Villain... I guess I love him so much because he reminds me so much of Roderick McRatrick, only not as goofy and with more of an edge. Plus the sellout/corporate sponsorship gimmick is gold.

Andy Sharp Ever since he won the TV Title, I've been following Sharpie very closely. The angle with Almasy was brilliant, and the feud with Danger and Hound was must-read material each week. I'm very interested to see where Seth takes him, especially since Seth's been hyping Sharpie's new direction to me in IM for over a month now :p

Max Danger I don't know what it is about Danger that I like, but he's just an all-around interesting character. I especially like any segment he's in with Coral Avalon. They're just so childish but they're fun to read.

Jimmy Cain WARJIMMY WARJIMMY WARJIMMY~! Another ridiculously over the top character from Devin and yet another ridiculously fun character to read.

As an aside here, it's a shame Gethard doesn't have a whole lot of time anymore, because he would have fit in great in ACW. He was supposed to have joined in January. I was marking out at the prospect of it. But alas, that real life thing happens to the best of us.

Anyway, back to the list...

The Codemaster/Blue Rouges I don't know, any character who calls himself "The Blackest Brother in the Hyrule Kingdom" is aces in my book.

A few of my favorite characters -- A1E

I figure I'd like to try and foster an air of positivity on here and get this thing updated more regularly, like either daily or semi-daily (I'd like four times a week at least).

So I figure why not break down fed by fed my favorite characters, five guys, in no order. Trying a new fed each non-other-topical entry. I figure I'd do it in alphabetical order, because I'm lazy like that :)

So since that's the case, we conveniently start out with the home fed... A1E.

Once again, no particular order here.

Slambo the Clown - There's an interesting dynamic here. He's so innocent, so child-minded, but he's a savage beast in the ring. It's what makes his character work so well as the lackey to the insidious HPSC, which makes him a heel by default, but almost makes you want to root for him. If he ever turned face, it would be the hugest moment of the year probably (because given the handlers needed to be involved, there would be a master angle behind it), but I could be tricky to pull off.

James Irish - James has always been a favorite character of mine ever since I got to experience him in A1E as a full-time character. I feel like I've missed out on him when he was in MBE since I wasn't around for his run there. His self-deprecation a refreshing blast in a world where every character seems to have an ego three times the size of Jupiter. Plus he's sharp as a knife.

Chip Friendly - This might be surprising since we can often develop animosity towards a character if they consistently beat our own character. And if anyone knows the history behind Chip Friendly and Jericoholic Anonymous, well, Chip's owned JA on several occasions. Still, as I've matured, I've grown past that whole petty stage in e-fedding, and I've learned to appreciate the true greatness of Chip's character. Dan can really play this character well, especially since it's a unique character. I really don't know of many others who go with the whole facetious friendship, "damning with faint praise" angle.

Eddie Weston - I used to think he was pretty bland and too artificially angsty, but over the last few weeks, I thought he's been improving quite nicely. I don't know what changed in Eddie's delivery, but it's just seemed to flow a little better each week. I think Roger should probably devote a little more time to him, since at this point, I think he's done as much with Fly as humanly possible in A1E.

Hida Yakamo - He's one of my favorite characters ever, and he's in A1E now, so I might as well list him. Hopefully, he and Dan can stick with this angle they're running, because it could be a good one if everyone involved plays it the way it should be played.
