Ultimate MBE: The Next Two Brackets

Before I get into this entry, yes, I dropped from GTT6, and yes, I feel very shitty about it. However, I've run into a pretty busy time in real life right now, and there's no way I'd make the deadline. I did screw things up bigtime, but I'd rather bow out now and give people the heads up instead of flaking out by missing the sandbag deadline.

I'll make it up to you guys somehow else. I don't know how, because I feel so badly, but I will.

Also, a reminder to those who promised me guest blogs, well, the offer's still open. There's no deadline, and as long as I write here, I'll be accepting guest entries. However, I don't want you guys to forget about things, and I'm actually quite interested in seeing what you guys have to say. I've already gotten two fantastic guest entries and a third... well, I'll be nice and say it was interesting :). But if Dave's and Shane's entries are the indication, then I think the readership can benefit from hearing what you guys have to say greatly.

So in short... take your time, but don't forget ;)

And you other bloggers out there... an update would be nice :p

Alright, finally to the reason of the entry, I've been slacking on the Ultimate MBE Tournament, so to keep things moving, I'll do the other two first round brackets in one entry. Remember, if you're going to vote, please be sure to leave your name and a short reasoning behind each vote. Before we get to the new matchups, here's the results from the last one:

Maggot d. Cannibal
Aussie B d. Akira Otsuka
Webweaver d. Torment
Jack Gilkison d. Yori Yakamo, Jr.
Professor Tremendous d. Allworld
Meatbag d. Rat
Mango d. Jogi Fresh
El Tremendo d. Kanna Kirishima

) Freakfish vs. (16) Vinman

Freakfish in a walk. Just too dominant of a charecter.

(8) Tornado DDT vs. (9) Dumi

I'm going to bow out on this one as both were before my time and I have actually never read anything by either.

(4) IrishRed vs. (13) Guerilla

No Vote.

(5) Duchess vs. (12) El Nino

Duchess whose best work always comes in MBE.

(2) BobbyR vs. (15) Saigon Cinnamon

BobbyR wins this one in quick fashion.

(7) Cerebral vs. (10) Justin Evitable
I'm going with Cerebral here. This time next year the vote will go to Justin who I'm sure will have had a world title run by then.

(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (14) Tyrone the Tidy Giant

Paco wins. I think Paco is WAY under rated.

(6) Mr. Cable Access Television vs. (11) AJ Cirrus

I'm going Mr. CATV. Went from a straight RVD ripoff into an entertaining charecter.

Total Elimination Bracket

(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (16) Blitzkrieg

Hida wins this one with Authority.

(8) The Great Yamada vs. (9) Jack Blade

Give me Jack G in a very close match for 1000 Alex.

(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (13) Outlaw

I loved Outlaw...but he just gets outclassed here.

(5) Doc Awesome vs. (12) The Twins

Dang...I loved the Twins...think they were the best tag team in MBE ever...but I can't bring myself to vote against Doc.

(2) PILE vs. (15) Tha Eliminat0r

Not even family bond can save Elim. Pile destroys him and in the process makes him cry a little bit from all the insulting.

(7) SweetJesusFunk vs. (10) Lady Rebellion

Lady Reb in an upset. I think Matt was just a better tag wrestler then singles.

(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (14) Lance Thunder

Loonie really raised his game during MBE. He gets the duke here.

(6) WhiteNoise vs. (11) Ravage

Ravage won the rookie battle royal. Whitenoise remains one of my all time faves and he gets the win here.

Ok...I voted Jack G to win a match he wasn't even in. I change my vote to Yamada over blade...thank you very much....

(1) Freakfish vs. (16) Vinman

No Vote. Hoping for sweet retribution here though as Vinman handed me my first loss ever in efedding when he smacked around TheManInBlack.

(8) Tornado DDT vs. (9) Dumi

Wow...great 8/9 match. I loved dumi's lectures...er...promos...and the whole Morals and Marketing thing was a great gimmick I thought. Definitely a guy who shoulda been an all time great if he stuck around. Lowercase d with the win.

(4) IrishRed vs. (13) Guerilla

Gotta go with Red here. He's just had so much more success in the fed.

(5) Duchess vs. (12) El Nino

I vote Duch cause she's good at this.

(2) BobbyR vs. (15) Saigon Cinnamon

Boobs in a walk. The guy bleeds MBE. Usually during matches with Spoiler. ZING~!

(7) Cerebral vs. (10) Justin Evitable

You know, I'm a huge Cerebral fan (and am still bent that I never got my win back...or even a chance to get beaten by him again, but I think I may go with Justin in an upset here. He's been pretty strong in his latest run and it might be wrong, but I'm gonna reward his time in the fed and his never say die attitude with the duke.

(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (14) Tyrone the Tidy Giant

It's a shame that one of Mr. West's finest characters was never really fleshed out and was used mostly as a comic foil for Team T because the potential was definitely there, especially after the draw for the title and the triple Iron Man match. You know, looking at this tournament it's amazing how much really good comedy filtered through MBE. Paco was a fantastic character and a deserving champ and gets the win here as Tyrone never really was fleshed out.

(6) Mr. Cable Access Television vs. (11) AJ Cirrus

This is a tough one. Cirrus was hot and cold for me, but his hot stuff was blistering. Cable was pretty consistently good, but inconsistent attendance wise. I refuse to go to a draw though and I think Cable reached more of his potential as a character, so he wins in a squeaker...with a handful of tights.

Total Elimination Bracket

(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (16) Blitzkrieg

Hida. Next.

(8) The Great Yamada vs. (9) Jack Blade

I know I'm pretty much just a Dan West mark at this point, but yeah, I thought Yamada was freaking amazing and again, had some real potential if he had been Dan's main focus. Blade was sort of painted into a corner gimmick wise and never really emerged from the shadow of his backstory for me. Yamada wins.

(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (13) Outlaw

No vote.

(5) Doc Awesome vs. (12) The Twins

Doc has tons of importance to the direction the fed took from the early days and while the Twins definitely got better over time, I can't say they had a true impact on the fed as a whole. Doc wins.

(2) PILE vs. (15) Tha Eliminat0r

Pile was seriously untouchable for about a year there. Too bad we lost him. Kev wins.

(7) SweetJesusFunk vs. (10) Lady Rebellion

Tough one. LadyReb probably had more of an overall effect on the fed, but Talbot was my first blood feud and I though it may be wrong to vote with your heart I gotta go with SJF. Red said he was more of a tag team guy, but so were Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton, you know?

(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (14) Lance Thunder

Loonie could have been world champ. Seriously. Lance could not have. Loonie wins.

(6) WhiteNoise vs. (11) Ravage

No vote, but very good first round match for a couple of second characters.

Lord of the Boards Bracket

(1) Freakfish vs. (16) Vinman

After a long and careful consideration I think I might have to go with FF here. Let's just call it a whim. Freakfish Wins

(8) Tornado DDT vs. (9) Dumi

This could easily have been THE PPV Main Event in the early days of MBE. Torn was a great person and a fun character. But dumi was simply an awesome writer {with an incrdibly keen mind}. dumi wins

(4) IrishRed vs. (13) Guerilla

I like Guerilla {Power Supreme!} as a character but he never totally clicked with me. Red is perhaps the most passionate player that I have seen to strap on the eTrunks and lace on those eBoots and bring everything he has to the table (and that is quite a bit). IrishRed wins.

(5) Duchess vs. (12) El Nino

Duchess takes this both in terms of longevitiy and peak performance. Duchess wins

(2) BobbyR vs. (15) Saigon Cinnamon

If I am being honest, I am not sure Saigon really deserves to be in this tournament at all. Not a bad character, but simply was not around very long and didn't really do all that much when compared with even the other 15-16 seeds. Bobby, on the other hand, is a legend of the federation who's contributions cannot be undersold. BobbyR wins.

(7) Cerebral vs. (10) Justin Evitable

Honestly, even without Justins recent contributions to the MBE restart, this would have been a very close match. Including them, it probably isn't. Justin wins.

(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (14) Tyrone the Tidy Giant

Tyrone was a fun gimmick that I helped create for Aussie that had some success. Paco was RULER OF THE WORLD. Paco wins.

(6) Mr. Cable Access Television vs. (11) AJ Cirrus

Tougher call than I might think here. Sadly, AJ's best run came at a time when I was on hiatus from the game. So, just based on what I saw personally in MBE, I thing I have to go with CATV. MrCATV wins.

Total Elimination Bracket to come later.

Total Elimination Bracket

(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (16) Blitzkrieg

Hida is one of the defining characters in MBE ang Blitz was - quite frankly - a bit of a whiner IIRC. Hida wins.

(8) The Great Yamada vs. (9) Jack Blade

No Vote

(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (13) Outlaw

OutlaW was a fun character while he last. But MrA! was such a great heel that for a while people refused to vote for him because he played his role so well. I mean the guy actually made SJF seem sympathetic. Amazing wins.

(5) Doc Awesome vs. (12) The Twins

I think the general feeling is that Doc was overrated. And if you go on his own stated opinions of himself, he probably was. But he was still a damn good character and should go over the Twins (who were a great gimmick but took a while to completely click.) Doc Awesome wins.

(2) PILE vs. (15) Tha Eliminat0r

If PILE hadn't lost his smile he easily would have been right up there with the absolute best to have played this game in our exteded circuit. And as it stands, he probably still is just that. No offence to Elim here, but he simple cannot compete with the Phenom. PILE wins.

(7) SweetJesusFunk vs. (10) Lady Rebellion

Tough call. SJF had a lot of great ideas but not very much discipline. Reb had a lot of discipline (and bondage) but probably did as much damage to MBE with he OOC antics as good. SJF win.

(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (14) Lance Thunder

I probably shouldn't vote here as I was one of the 3 people to play Lance Thunder during his run in MBE. But honestly, Loonie (who's handle also played Lance for a while) should win this match rather handily.

(6) WhiteNoise vs. (11) Ravage

I would love to be able to put Ravage over someone in a first round upset. But Whitenoise is perhaps my personal favorite MBE character ever so it's not going to happen here. Whitenoise wins.

1) Freakfish vs. (16) Vinman

FF in a walk

(8) Tornado DDT vs. (9) Dumi

Tough for me, as a lot of early Hida was patterned after dumi, but I think TORN's impact was greater, ushering in the SupTool era, plus the world title win.

(4) IrishRed vs. (13) Guerilla

I remember liking Guerilla okay, but Red wins this easily.

(5) Duchess vs. (12) El Nino

Duchess, not even close

(2) BobbyR vs. (15) Saigon Cinnamon

Yeah, Bobby takes this one with his litany of accomplishments

(7) Cerebral vs. (10) Justin Evitable

Cerebral was way more important and way better than people remember. He suffers from PILE syndrome a bit in that he did most of his best work before the A1 era. Justin is superimproved, and will take this easily in six months. But Cerebral gets it now.

(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (14) Tyrone the Tidy Giant

Tyrone is like my fifth favorite member of Team T, which still makes him awesome, but Paco was an absolute terror when he was around.

(6) Mr. Cable Access Television vs. (11) AJ Cirrus

CATV blossomed into a pretty good, if unreliable handler. I think I like AJ more than most, but CATV has peak and longevity, here.

Total Elimination Bracket

(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (16) Blitzkrieg

No vote.

(8) The Great Yamada vs. (9) Jack Blade

I think Yamada is low as an eight seed, and he wins here, setting up the teacher v. student match.

(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (13) Outlaw

Mr. A! for so many reasons

(5) Doc Awesome vs. (12) The Twins

I really love the Twins, that said, Doc embodied MBE then the way Red and Andy embody it now.

(2) PILE vs. (15) Tha Eliminat0r

PILE easily could have been the fourth one seed, as a two he still beats Elim easily

(7) SweetJesusFunk vs. (10) Lady Rebellion

What a mess. I shouldn't let personal feelings dictate voting, but SJF wins.

(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (14) Lance Thunder

Lance Thunder is awesome. Tommy and I had our issues, but Loonie was easily one of the best characters to pass through MBE's doors. Fantastic at building angles.

(6) WhiteNoise vs. (11) Ravage

I like Ravage. But WN gets the duke.

Freakfish vs. (16) Vinman

Freakfish is just on a much higher level than Vinman. A way more important character to MBE. FF wins.

(8) Tornado DDT vs. (9) Dumi

This is a pretty close match. Dumi was a great handler and I wish he was still around as a poster on the A1 boards. He beats Torn after twenty minutes of great action.

(4) IrishRed vs. (13) Guerilla

Guerilla's gimmick was... strange. Red has become a great character and handler since he came back from jail. He is just being himself pumped up to a large digree, and it is working for him. He gets my vote.

(5) Duchess vs. (12) El Nino

Duchess is the First Lady of MBE, and a valet who adapted to wrestling so well she made it look easy. She wins.

(2) BobbyR vs. (15) Saigon Cinnamon

Saigon didn't do shit. Bobby was every bit the Heart and Soul of MBE that some say I am. He wins this easily.

(7) Cerebral vs. (10) Justin Evitable

I don't remember Cerebral all that much now. I've always felt Justin was underrated but got caught in a bad losing streak and couldn't ever really battle back from it until recently when he just exploded out of nowhere. He gets my vote for doing that so well.

(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (14) Tyrone the Tidy Giant

Paco was a great writer and took a weird "I want to rule the world" gimmick and character right to the main event. Tyrone, in the grand scheme of things, never broke out of being an amusing henchmen for the Prof. Paco wins.

(6) Mr. Cable Access Television vs. (11) AJ Cirrus

Both guys were hot and cold at times. If I have to pick one, I'd pick Mr. CATV for the reasons Bill mentioned.

Total Elimination Bracket

(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (16) Blitzkrieg

Hida is just on another level entirely. Blitz was around for a cup of coffe with early MBE and disappeared quickly.

(8) The Great Yamada vs. (9) Jack Blade

Jack played his gimmick well, but Yamada was very underrated. Strange how he never accomplished much outside of Tags.

(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (13) Outlaw

Outlaw actually pre-dated BikerTaker by several months. He was a decent character who never got fleshed out. Mr. Amazing was a great character that never quite got his due for whatever reason. But he gets his due from me here with my vote.

(5) Doc Awesome vs. (12) The Twins

The Twins were an interesting team, but Doc was simply the ICON of MBE. One of the guys who helped make it what it was early on. He gets my vote here.

(2) PILE vs. (15) Tha Eliminat0r

Elim amounted to very little in MBE, outside of being Red's enforcer. PILE is like Spoiler, Bobby, FF, Hida, and Doc. His dickish and intelligent personality easily made him a great character, especially when he was a heel. Elim just can't compete.

(7) SweetJesusFunk vs. (10) Lady Rebellion

Sweet Jesus Funk gets my vote for playing off PILE so damn well, and for his great feud with Mr. Amazing. And besides, I still haven't forgiven Reb for the scars she left on my body with those goddamn knives of hers.

(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (14) Lance Thunder

Loonie was easily as "over" during his time in MBE as James Irish is now in A1E, only he never reached that high level James currently stands tall on. He easily beats Lance Thunder here.

(6) WhiteNoise vs. (11) Ravage

WhiteNoise was a great underrated character. Ravage doesn't come close to matching him on the greatness scale, even though he is probably taller.

(8) Tornado DDT vs. (9) Dumi

Tough one - 2 more partners, but it's gotta be Torn

Red, because

Duch came further in MBE than anyone, From valet to champ - she wins

BobbyR's Credentials: World Champion, 5x North American Champion, 3x Tag Champion, Founding Father of MBE and the Beasties, leader of MwM v2.0 as The Red Don
