Yes, I am the biggest slacker in the history of slacking, but regardless, the show must go on! Second round matches, all of 'em!
High Stakes Bracket
(1) The Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy
Spoiler's Greatest Rival: BobbyR - Although Spoils dominated Bobby most of the time, this feud was the most heated blood feud in all of MBE in its history.
LB's Greatest Rival: Webweaver - These guys had some pretty good matches in the later stages of MBE.
(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY
James' Greatest Rival: Dr. Phantasmo - Exemplifying James' role in MBE more as an announcer, these two had a palpable dislike for each other in the broadcast booth.
FATTY's Greatest Rival: DocAwesome - A bitter feud from the early days.
(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo
Fly's Greatest Rival: Professor Tremendous - They had a pretty entertaining feud for the World Championship in the days when MBE was between 1Blob and A1.
Promo's Greatest Rival: Victor Molotov - Sure, he was technically from the UXW days, but since there was a merger, I'm counting it. They were two diametrically opposed characters and played off each other well.
(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow
Andy's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - Andy played the David to Spoils' Goliath well.
Freakshow's Greatest Rival: Professor Tremendous - The promos for these matches would always be off-the-charts entertaining.
Wednesday Night Warriors Bracket
(1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B
Maggot's Greatest Rival: Freakfish - From the first title match where I was the fresh-faced rook and FF the dominant Champion to the last one, where I held the gold and Double F was trying to get his gold back and everything in between, it was one hell of a ride.
Aussie's Greatest Rival: El Nino - They would be stable mates for a bit, but they're more known as rivals.
(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison
Webby's Greatest Rival: Londonboy - See LB's entry
Jack's Greatest Rival: Andrew Gilkison - Is there any other? This brotherly blood feud was among the most brutal in MBE history.
(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag
Prof's Greatest Rival: Housefly - See Fly's entry
Meatbag's Greatest Rival: PILE - They had some brouhahas back in the day, didn't they?
(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo
Mango's Greatest Rival: Hida Yakamo - The juxtaposition here is sublime, the oafish Mango and the sleek Asian Wonder.
El T's Greatest Rival: The TeamT Goat - I think this feud stemmed from the goat eating some of El T's precious antique cans :p
Lord of the Boards Bracket
(1) Freakfish vs. (9) dumi
FF's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - A career defining feud that Double F has tried to continue as recently as Spoils' HOF induction.
dumi's Greatest Rival: Paco the Wetback - A blood feud from the early days.
(4) IrishRed vs. (5) Duchess
Red's Greatest Rival: James Irish - A case where opposites didn't attract, stemming from the Mafia/Misfits feuding days.
Duchess' Greatest Rival: BobbyR - These two have been either at it or allied in some form since the beginning.
(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable
Bobby's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - See Naitch's entry
Justin's Greatest Rival: Doc Silver - V. 2.0 is the key here. Justin and Doc anchored a lot of the new action since the restart.
(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr. CableAccessTelevision
Paco's Greatest Rival: Londonboy - That LB got under a lot of folks' skins, didn't he? ;)
CATV's Greatest Rival: Professor Tremendous - So'd the Prof!
Total Elimination Bracket
(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada
Hida's Greatest Rival: The Spoiler - The Red and Black Monster seems to be a lot of folks' white whale.
Yamada's Greatest Rival: Freakfish - They had a pretty good back and forth in early 2001.
(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5) DocAwesome
Mr. A!'s Greatest Rival: SweetJesusFunk - They were called Strange Bedfellows for a reason.
Doc's Greatest Rival: FATSEXY - See FATTY's entry
(2) PILE vs. (7) SweetJesusFunk
PILE's Greatest Rival: Hida Yakamo - A lot of bad blood here, culminating in a huge cage match in 2001 for the North American Championship.
SJF's Greatest Rival: See Mr. A!'s entry
(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) WhiteNoise
Loonie's Greatest Rival: Hida Yakamo - Another juxtaposition of styles, they had some classic encounters.
WN's Greatest Rival: OUTLAW - A very intense feud.

(1) The Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy
LB was a tough nosed little SOB with a ton of heart. That keeps him in the match for 20 minutes before The Spoiler bombs him into submission for the 1, 2, 3.
(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY
I missed most of Fatty's glory days. He could post a wonderful comedic promo though. Speaking of comedic...I go with James after an air check.
(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo
This would be non stop brawl from bell to bell. Fly gets the bloody win with the Flycatcher.
(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow
Complete opposites in terms of RP style. I love my boy Jon but Andy takes the duke here.
Wednesday Night Warriors Bracket
(1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B
Aussie was fun, Maggot is an MBE Icon. Mags gets the win.
(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison
Webby is severely under rated. In a match where the head games play on and on Webby gets the pin.
(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag
Dammit! Meaty was my first running mate but I just can't put him over here. Tough draw for the first unified champion.
(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo
Mango wins this one with a bloody smile on his face.
Lord of the Boards Bracket
(1) Freakfish vs. (9) dumi
Freakfish is justt too much for Dumi in this battle between two MBE legends.
(4) IrishRed vs. (5) Duchess
No vote.
(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable
Bobby wins this one off of legacy despite the wonderful showing of Justin in MBE v 2.0.
(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr. CableAccessTelevision
Mr. CATV became one of my faves the longer he hung around, that being said Paco is in my opinion one of the top 10 of all time. Paco with the Orange Picker and the win.
Total Elimination Bracket
(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada
Hida wins in some most assuradly egotistical manner.
(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5) DocAwesome
This is the toughest pick for me in this round. I'm going with Doc in a roll through and a hand full of tights.
(2) PILE vs. (7) SweetJesusFunk
Former Unemployed College students and tag team champions face off one on one. Pile beats SJF handily.
(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) WhiteNoise
I freaking love Whitenoise. I love the Loonie. What to do? Whitenoise wins...barely. Tomorrow I may vote Loonie. Damn...Nope I have made up my mind. Whitenoise with the duke.
Shane (Irishred)
(1) The Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy
In what will surely be repeated ad nauseum in most of my votes.....WHAM! SPOILERBOMB!
That said, LB is still one of my favorite underrated guys, what a bastard, he should wander back over.
(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY
James has the resume, FATTY has the influence and the iconography. FATTY gets the duke for being as much of a draw as you can be in an e-fed.
(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo
Our first match-up of former world champs, I always thought Fly's MBE stuff was a little overrated and Promo's a little underrated, but Fly wins this one.
(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow
If show was more consistent this would probably be a lot closer, but Andy's resume is very difficult to ignore. Andy takes it.
Wednesday Night Warriors Bracket
(1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B
Anyone who reads my WNW recaps knows there is nothing I love more than a good Aussie B joke. I recall him having moments with the PTPers where he was pretty decent, and his feud with me back in 2000 was okay. Maggot is one of the few MBers with a victory over me, even if I won when it actually counted for something. Maggs with the duke
(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison
I think I am the one of the few of the MBE inteleegensia who actually likes Andy more than Jack, plus I have been stalwart in my defense of Webby as a criminally underrated character and Dan Barrett as a criminially underrated handler. I'll keep flying the Web flag here, too.
(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag
I'm too lazy to go back and see who Meatbag upset in the first round, kind fo shocking since he wasn't around for particularly long, had a fun feud with the HHA and with Lady Reb, but I always thought Mango and Red were the class of the MwM. Professor Tremendous is the greatest e-fed character ever, so all of the above is kinda moot, anyway.
(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo
Hmmm, two of my top ten favorite MBE characters ever. El T is at times, funnier than the Professor, even if Bill would readily admit to ganking a lot from Prof for El. Mango has the higher stature and the more consistently memorable promos. I'd put El T over a lot of people, but Mango pulls it out.
Lord of the Boards Bracket
(1) Freakfish vs. (9) dumi
Dumi was a big influence on Hida, and obviously brings the historical importance, along with being a good promo for a few months. FF is an all-time pantheoner. FF it is
(4) IrishRed vs. (5) Duchess
Brutal match-up. Both have less titles to their name than they probably should, both have had signature moments throughout the history of MBE, and have been involved in huge angles. Literally for me this came down to how they have done since the restart, and I give Duchess a slight edge.
(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable
Bobby is to MBE what Charlie Brown is to Peanuts. Or something. There's really not a good metaphor. Justin has been rock solid since the restart, but Bobby is a first ballot HoFer.
(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr. CableAccessTelevision
An interesting match-up between guys who were both sort of in and out, but haad moments of brilliance when they were around. Paco had more, plus the wonderfully high concept character, so he sends CATV packing for Australia.
Total Elimination Bracket
(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada
No vote. Fun match-up though
(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5) DocAwesome
I don't think this is nearly as tough as Shane, Mr. A! takes it, and not just so I can get a win over Bill in the next round. Longevity plus influence, plus two reallly great feuds with FATTY and SJF. People forget how huge A/SJF was in the early days.
(2) PILE vs. (7) SweetJesusFunk
An entertaining match-up between two guys from the early days. PILE wins this though, as at his best he was straight up nasty.
(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) WhiteNoise
Sort of the counterpoint to Mango/El T, two characters I don't think I like as much as most. Whitenoise is probably the better 'promo' by a decent amount, and is a great concept, but was frustratingly inconsistent a lot of the times. Loonie I could have actually seen winning the World Title at a few points, so I guess he gets it. Man, that is two jobs for Bill this round, something must be wrong.
-jp
I'd go with Jack Blade instead of Webweaver as my greatest rival. I only remember facing Webweaver once in a singles match (where I put up the calling him Baldrick with all his cunning plans promo) and to be honest I should have won instead of drawing. But that's another kettle of fish altogether.
As for coming back to MBE, I don't really have the time right now, plus I'm banned anyway. Can't see myself coming back as long as the person who did the banning still has admin powers.
(1) The Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy
I love me some LB, but it's Spoiler's tourny to lose. Just too much history on the big man's side, although this would have been a very fun match.
(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY
FATTY was more of a flash in the pan than most people realize, I think. I mean, the joke was funny, but it was one joke and he was only around in the beginning. James stuck around and developed as a character. He gets the duke.
(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo
This is tight. I think the deciding factor for me was that Housefly was pretty much always reliable and Promo has no showed more than a few times. giving Fly a win here.
(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow
Same thing with Freakshow and the no shows (although with my current track record I'm one to talk). Andy goes over in a close one.
(1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B
Maggs in a laugher.
(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison
When Jack arrived on the scene I thought he was great, not only because he allowed Andy the writer to flex his wings with fresh material but he actually made the Andy G character better as well. Unfortunately I feel like he stagnated after a really hot start. Web has always been streaky, but his good stuff was quite good. He just had a tendancy to get caught up with bad angles and tended to promo down to his opponent's level. Tough choice, but I'll go with Webby.
(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag
Prof T cheats to win, although he probably wouldn't have to. That's why he's the best.
(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo
No vote, but I'm hoping for some El T love so it's not a total squash. I actually think this could be a decent match a la MrO vs. Mango for the Extreme Belt way back when.
(1) Freakfish vs. (9) dumi
No vote, but I would LOVE to have this match.
(4) IrishRed vs. (5) Duchess
Man, this is a hell of a tourny. Another tight match that I could go either way on depending on the weather. It's in the single digits here today though, so I'll go with Red.
(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable
Justin is a lot like Web in that he is underrated and has his moments. He needs a better editor I think, as there tend to be good stuff in a lot of his promos, but it can get buried. Bobby is a guy who's legend has eclipsed his talent, but he is a talented guy who earned his spot. Bobby goes over here.
(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr. CableAccessTelevision
CATV was just catching his stride when he left and Paco was always brilliant, but spotty in attendance. Still, gotta go with the former champ here and CATV makes his exit.
(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada
Very good match between MBE's two best handlers. Gotta go with Hida as he's Jeff's primary, although Yamada would do some damage.
(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5) DocAwesome
No vote. Funny that it should come to this so quickly as MrAmazing started as a riff on DocA, but in my not so humble opinion, quickly surpassed him.
(2) PILE vs. (7) SweetJesusFunk
This is a really good tournament, seriously. PILE here for longevity and legacy, but in early MBE this is a hell of a matchup.
(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) WhiteNoise
Again I don't vote. I completely agree with Jeff that WhiteNoise was way too inconsistent. He was too high concept and just plain too hard to write on a weekly basis for me. But I feel like when I connected with him a lot of times it was out of the park. Loonie was a sideshow that became a legit second tier main eventer, but fizzled.
"Flex his wings" is my new thing to say.
High Stakes Bracket
(1) The Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy
No Vote. LB is definitely one of the most underated competitors in the game though.
(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY
FATTY was fun but I am not sure how he would have stood up over time. James, on the other hand, used his time in MBE to evolve as a handler and eventually become on of the top handlers in the community. James wins.
(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo
Both had nice runs up to and with the World Title. Fly wins on consistency.
(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow
Andy showed remarkable improvement during his time in MBE, but IMO didn't hit his peak until his most recent A1E run. Show has long be haunted with the inconsitency label, but - again - most of this is due to factors post-MBE. If I have to choose MBE peak vs MBE peak this is probably one of the closest matches in the rounnd. Freakshow wins based on shear creativity and to keep the as voting close as it should be.
Wednesday Night Warriors Bracket
(1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B
I have long thought that Aussie had the potetial to be one of MBE's big success stories. There s a difference in class here thought between him and Maggot (who was absolutely on of the success stories). Maggot wins.
(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison
Both ran hot and cold at times. Both had really good peaks where they bacame solid challengers for the World Title even if they didn't win it. Web did it longer though so he wins.
(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag
No vote
(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo
Mango was one of my favorites and will always hold a special place in the MBE section of my heart. El T was perhaps the funniest character ever to walk the halls of the arena though and I will not sit back and watch him get squashed my some miscreant caveman (no mater how much I love said cavement) without a fight. El Tremendo wins.
Lord of the Boards Bracket
(1) Freakfish vs. (9) dumi
dumi had an absolutely fantastic run at the start of MBE. FF had the same kind of run throught the entirity of MBE. Freakfish wins.
(4) IrishRed vs. (5) Duchess
Tough tough call, for all the lack of in-ring success that Red had during his first abbreviated run in MBE, he actually managed to have a huge impact on the fed. Duchess, while less of a mover and shaker was consistently strong from beginning to end. I'd make it a draw up to the MBE Cup tournament and then give Red the win for his runner up finish. IrishRed wins.
(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable
Bobby R truly is the Jack Brisco of MBE. I am not sure how well his stuff would hold up in the ring right now, but no one (not even a renewed True Face) can deny his top 5 standing in MBE's history
(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr. CableAccessTelevision
CATV showed falshes and had tons of unreached potential. Paco - although spotty at times in terms of activity - was truly one of the leading lights of MBE. And dang could he hold kayfabe. Paco wins.
Total Elimination Bracket
(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada
No Vote. Yamada probably should have lost last round though.
(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5) DocAwesome
I actually think Doc may have been a bit underated by some who remember him less that fondly, but - even so - he was nowhere close to MrA! Mr Amazing wins.
(2) PILE vs. (7) SweetJesusFunk
Damn I wish that SJF had seen his AvatarPheonix persona through. Even if he did though, PILE still almost certainly would have won here.
(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) WhiteNoise
Damn, damn, damn. Two of my absolute favorites meeting way to early in this tournament. Flip a coin and lets give it to the Loonie and then justify it by remembering how huge and improvement this character was over Tommy C's previous Mr. 500 character. The Canadian Loonie wins.
(1) The Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy
WHAM!!! Bill is correct... this is Spoiler's tournament to lose. But he wins here.
(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY
James wins for sticking around.
(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo
Fly won the belt during MBE's popularity, while Promo won it while the fed was on it's last legs pretty much. Both runs were equal, so what gives Fly the edge for me here is that he won BOTH the A1E and MBE World titles at the same time. It's close, but Fly wins based on that.
(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow
No vote.
1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B
Aussie improved big time, but Maggot quickly rose to the main event level. That puts him over here.
(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison
No vote.
(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag
The MwM are dropping like flies from this tourney. The Professor is just too strong a character here for me to not put him over until he meets a really big gun.
(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo
Mango was a fantastic character. Tim did him so well. And even Bill admits that El T is a zerox copy of Professor Tremendous. I think I'll go with Mango here.
1) Freakfish vs. (9) dumi
Promo wise, both are equal. But Freakfish stuck around and won the World title. Dumi left. That's why FF gets my vote here.
(4) IrishRed vs. (5) Duchess
Damn... this is a hard match to vote for. I think I'll give it to Duchess by a hair, due to her rising to the main event level in the new MBE.
(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable
Bobby wins this based on legacy.
(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr. CableAccessTelevision
The World title gives Paco the edge here. That, and he is just a better character all around.
(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada
Hida is Hida... the toughest opponent I've ever faced, and one of the most over finishers in history next to the Spoilerbomb. Yamada was severally underrated, but his first matches where he lost against BobbyR seemed to taint him forever. Hida wins.
(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5) DocAwesome
I love Doc, but Mr. A! is the best MBE character that never won the World title, and even that was because Bill took him out of the game. But I will give him his due here.
(2) PILE vs. (7) SweetJesusFunk
PILE was the Shawn Michaels to SJF's Marty Janetty. That is why PILE wins this match.
(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) WhiteNoise
The Canadian Loonie could've won the World title if he managed to stick around. That is how over he was at one time.
But WN was a very underrated character. I think I'll give him the win because Loonie was a flash in the pan while WN stuck around longer.
High Stakes Bracket:
(1) Spoiler vs. (8) Londonboy
As has already been said, this is Spoiler's tournament to lose.
(4) James Irish vs. (5) FATSEXY
Never saw any of FATSEXY's stuff in MBE (Except a little UXW stuff), but James has always been a class act, so he gets the win.
(2) Housefly vs. (7) Promo
No vote, although I'm tempted to vote for myself to avoid the shutout.
(3) Andrew Gilkison vs. (6) Freakshow
Gilky gets the win here. He's owned me in the rebirth era.
Wednesday Night Warriors Bracket:
(1) Maggot vs. (8) Aussie B
Maggot takes it to my Extreme Elite stablemate.
(4) Webweaver vs. (5) Jack Gilkison
I always thought Webweaver was overated, but admittedly, I haven't really seen anything other than his stuff in the MBE Cup tournament. Jack Gilkison takes the win here.
(2) Professor Tremendous vs. (10) Meatbag
Never saw much of anything from either, so the Prof. gets the win based on seeding.
(3) Mango vs. (6) El Tremendo
Never saw Mango in action, but El Tremendo always made me laugh 102% of the time. He moves on.
Lord of the Boards Bracket:
(1) Freakfish vs. (9) Dumi
Hmmmm, tough call here, I'll flip a coin. Just kidding, Freakfish easily takes out Dumi, who I have never seen anything of.
(4) Irishred vs. (5) Duchess
Possibly the closest match of the entire second round. I wasn't around for 'Red's heyday, but I'm very familiar with Duchess, and she's been tearing it up in the new MBE, so she gets the win here in a close match.
(2) BobbyR vs. (10) Justin Evitable
Most I ever really saw of BobbyR was in the end of his career, and I don't think I can judge it fairly against what Justin is turning out these days. Justin pulls the upset of the second round with the defeat of the MBE HoF'er.
(3) Paco the Wetback vs. (6) Mr.CableAccessTelevision
Uhm, Paco banishes Mr. CATV to Australia very easily.
Total Elimination Bracket:
(1) Hida Yakamo vs. (8) The Great Yamada
I really missed out on a lot in the early days. I'll flip a coin on this one.........heads, Hida wins.
(4) Mr. Amazing! vs. (5)DocAwesome
Missed out on both of these guys in MBE, but if Mr. Amazing! was as good as he was in A1E last year, then he will get the win here.
(2) PILE vs. (7) SweeJesusFunk
I think it's official that I missed everyone in this bracket. PILE wins by seeding.
(3) The Canadian Loonie vs. (6) Whitenoise
See above. Loonie wins by seeding.
