Give your Blogger feedback

Thus marks the 300th post on this crazy thing, and as with any milestone post, there has to be a crazy gimmick involved, right? No? Well, you're getting it anyway.

I really try not to talk about myself on the blog, and in fact, the last time I really asked for thoughts about me and my work, it was the 200th entry, so I'm doing it again. If you don't like it... tough cookies :) It's just a series of questions about the blog, about my work in eW and things I've done and what I might do. So here goes:

The last time I did a self-post, I asked what your favorite character of mine was. If you didn't answer last time, tell me, what is your favorite Holzer-character? If you did, has that answer changed since the last time?

I love gimmicks and I love handling gimmicked characters. I've done the Ottoman throwback, the masked GOPundit and a score of others. What kind of gimmick would you like to see me do in the future?

Those of you who actually read RPs, how have I been since I came over to FW in 2004 and then started the blog in 2005?

What do you think of the blog? Be honest, if you think there's something missing, something wrong, something I'm doing or allowing to be done that just plain sucks, please let me know. I'm glad people like the blog, but if I hear nothing but knob-slobbering praise, I have no idea how to improve, because let's face it, I'm not a perfect writer and I'm not a perfect judge of content. I need to know, people!

That's it. You don't have to answer all of the questions if you do answer, but if you do, please, please, please, PLEASE answer the last question if you only do one.

What is your favorite Holzer-character?

Monsieur Fantastic.

What kind of gimmick would you like to see me do in the future?

Mavis Deltzer. A snarky know-it-all that hates all things in wrestling today and sets out to improve them with his ring-ability and blogging. :P

Those of you who actually read RPs, how have I been since I came over to FW in 2004 and then started the blog in 2005?

I've only followed Maggot and Fantastic, and I feel you've acclimated to the NFW style moreso than when you first started.

Of course, NFW isn't known to improve anyone's writing...just make it way more weirder than they ever could imagine. :)

What do you think of the blog?

You don't really cover the feds you're in anymore, or review/preview shows with the gusto you had when the blog first started.

Instead, its gearing to more of those PTC/W316 debates that I like to heartily make fun of all the time.

I'm just one reader, but I find myself visiting your blog and saying "Oh, another thesis paper on what ewrestling/fwrestling should be...SKIP!"

Its not that its bad writing, its just the topics aren't of interest to me when you go down those roads. I'd rather find out what's going on in feds I'm not in, than that stuff.

Well the only one I can honestly answer is the last one. I have told you before and I stand by this, I like the blog. I wish it had maybe an easier web address, but I think the idea itself is nifty. I do check in every cpl weeks.

Holzerman, I'm not going to answer the first three questions because I don't follow you enough...but I do follow your blog. I'd say I wouldn't mind seeing you do more little profiles on other leagues, such as characters you like and what not. While it's enjoyable that you regularly report news and happenings from the eW hubs you're a part of, I also (or at least, used to) look at your blog as a source of finding new people to be interested in. I also wouldn't mind more league-specific bios.

Another complaint is that it seems, at times, like you're trying to do too much. The blog is not always focused; it may be all about eW, but when you do a big PPV show summary for one fed, and then don't mention them for seemingly weeks, it's kind of dull. I'd say either stick with covering the big happenings and putting opinions in, or try to cover feds on a more personal basis. This could be just a personal preference of mine, but it was one of the few complaints I could come up with.

* Haven't gotten a chance to really read up on a lot of your characters. Times pretty limited, and its hard enough trying to follow the other PTC feds (though i do my best). So I'd have to say Captain Suleimon, the one character i've definitely had the chance to follow. I've got to be honest though, i've really wanted to look into some of your work with Jericoholic Anonymous. Something about the character really intrigues me.

* I'd love to see you do a Philly fanatic type character. A crazy ass sports/pro wrestling fan who gets in with a fed and is a total mark backstage for the boys, but typical condescending asshole once it turns to business.

I'm thinking Eagles fans who huff nitrous oxide in the parking lot before games... who boo Santa Claus and pelt him with snowballs.

I can just see this character tag teaming with someone, and while standing on the apron, watching his opponent not fair so well, instead of cheering him on... booing his own partner, getting cups of beer from the fans and tossing them into the ring.

I dunno... I'm a huge Eagles fan, and being a Philly guy, i'd love to see you do a sports/wrestling psycho type gimmick.

* As for the blog itself... i'v said it before, and i'll say it again... I think its one of the absolute best things going in the world of e-fedding. This hobby could use more guys with your passion, imagination, and dedication.

You work so hard to cover so many feds... i can't imagine how you do it, but i know as a handler, and now fedhead, of one of those feds you cover... i'm extremely grateful.

You manage to bring together angle and Rp. Story driven and trash talk. Wrestling related and anything but wrestling related. I think this blog is like a shitload of bridges connecting what might otherwise be a lot of little isolated islands.

As for any changes... i'd just like to see one thing. More reviews of the supershows or 'PPVs' of those feds you do cover.

It's one of those things i alwasy love reading... to get a persons detailed perspective on how a show went down. It's also a way i got to read up on, and follow feds i might not otherwise have paid an ounce of attention to.

I know its a fair amount of work, but i really loved reading those show reviews... and while weekly shows would be unnecessary and out of the question... getting back to some of those reviews of fed's big shows would be awesome.

Otherwise, keep up the great work, my man. You've got an awesome thing going here.

And i'll certainly be encouraging the PRIME guys to compete in the ToC if they're interested.

-I've had the opportunity to see a few of your characters in action, good sir. I very much enjoy both Captain Suleimon for the old-school-like shit-talking vibe I get from him. Phantom Republican reminds me of Stan Smith from American Dad at first glance, but it's awesome that you have such a good knowledge of things like politics and Ottoman history to make both gimmicks work well. I'm with Tchubert that I'd like to see some stuff from Jerichoholic Anonymous and Benoitholic Anonymous.

-As for a character I'd like to see you handle, I think something like Tchu's idea, although more of a frat boy-type. I've seen the character done, albeit not so well.

-I don't think I've had the opportunity to read your work for that long, but at least as long as I've known you, you've always been a "must-read" character for me because you have such a great mind for eW and the characters you craft. I, too, have gotten into over-the-top character (see Mr. Silver and Hoss Richards in FUSE for that. =P) and it's nice to see somebody do them while having them actually relate to wrestling.

-If anything, the only thing I could think of is a little more feedback on feds that you're a part of. Other than that, I like coming to read the blog and your thoughts on some things as it pertains to this silly little corner of the world called eW.

I hope my feedback was helpful in any way, shape, form or matter.

GOP. I love the way you write this ultra-right-wing Conservative Republican. Because we don't really have anything like that in the major parties over here, it's really good to see a character like that.

I love gimmicks and I love handling gimmicked characters. I've done the Ottoman throwback, the masked GOPundit and a score of others. What kind of gimmick would you like to see me do in the future?

I dunno - maybe doing what HAL's done or what I'm trying with Otaku - the kinda geeky guy who's actually pretty good in the ring. Someone who wrestles but their first love clearly isn't devoted to the ring.

Those of you who actually read RPs, how have I been since I came over to FW in 2004 and then started the blog in 2005?

I haven't read your earlier stuff so I can't say how you've faired pre-EPW really. In Empire Pro you've always been one of my favourite reads. Your stuff in New ERA has seemed a lil up and down at times, but you're finding your feet there really well.

What do you think of the blog? Be honest, if you think there's something missing, something wrong, something I'm doing or allowing to be done that just plain sucks, please let me know. I check in every couple of days (I get easily bored researching my essays and dissertation and it gives me something to do), and I must admit I think there's too much about the PTC-esque leagues. That's probably because I'm not in them though. There are a few topics I think you could cover, but I'm actually planning on covering them in the next couple of months myself, so I might just send them your way to get your feedback on them. Overall it's a fun read. Your reviews of shows are really good, and I do sometimes wish there were more of those, even if it's just a few matches from them.

1) The only characters I know of yours, that I have actually followed, I should say, have been JA, Maggot and GOP. I still think that GOP is my favorite. He just has the best lines of the bunch .. and always makes me smile.

2) Jeez .. hmm .. let me think about this one. I would love to see maybe .. I dunno. LOL .. I'm having a hard time coming up with a gimmick LOL ... I'd love to see someone do a Bodydonna's gimmick again :) But thats just b/c I'm a Candido mark.

3) I still think that GOP is one of my favorite characters that I've read in a long, long time. I think you do a fine job.

4) I love the blog.. you know that. I do wish you would focus on leagues again. I know its hard b/c FWCentral leagues have downtimes .. but I do enjoy hearing other people's analysis on the state of the leagues that I am in, as well as hear about leagues that I'm not so familiar with.

The treatises are nice .. but I prefer league-specific criticisms / analysis. But you know either way I love the blog. :)

First thing, I really like the blog. I check in every couple of days to see what's going on in that warped mind of yours. ;)

I'm being a little selfish here in my feedback, in saying that the only real thing I would like to see more of is coverage on the A1 feds, A1E and MBE.

I think you're working so hard on getting involved in FW and bringing everyone together there that the A1 feds are basically ignored.

I love the FW coverage, because I don't have a ton of time to check out ALL the feds on FW, so it keeps me up to speed on those feds, and gives me an idea who people are, so that's really cool. But, you should be pushing the A1 feds with the same vigor, is all. ;)

Yeah, that's totally biased, but whatever. ;)

To answer your last question, I like the blog. I appreciate the honesty. I miss the reviews of other feds shows (or NAPW shows) but that may not be reasonable with the amount of work you do both efed wise and real life/pay the bills kind. My biggest complaints are that there are often long waits between posts (which goes back to my previous comment)and not anough about actual efedding (as in, what angles/shows/characters you think people need to check out)
